Did the Queen of Pop just become the new Queen of Spotify too? Well, technically, yes, only if you ask her, it won’t be for long. This week, the Thank U, Next artist ticked off yet another accomplishment, and, I’m sorry RiRi fans, but you might not be too happy about this one…

On Monday, August 17th, the pop star landed herself a swanky new title: the most-streamed female artist on Spotify. The catch? Rihanna had to hand in her crown, as the 27-year-old booted the Fenty goddess out of the esteemed spot.

“@ArianaGrande is now the most streamed female artist of all-time on Spotify, surpassing @rihanna (over 20. 5 billion),” a tweet by @chartdata first reported. Exciting, huh? Well, don’t get too excited, because if you ask the Spotify superstar herself, it’s not going to last long.

“Holy sh**, thank you so much,” Grande gushed on Instagram. “Now can Rihanna please drop her album so she can rightfully snatch this back and fill my ears again please or…”. In case you forgot, we’re clearly not the only ones waiting (not so) patiently for RiRi’s latest drop.

Since 2016, we’ve been waiting for new music from the Barbados beauty, as she promised a future follow-up to her 8th studio album, Anti. Unfortunately for us, it’s already been 4 years and, well, still nothing.

But maybe that’s a good sign, after all: “I’m not just gonna put it out just because people are waiting. It’s taken this long, I’m gonna make it worth it,” as RiRi explained. Well, there you have it; In the words of the Anti artist herself, I’d stay tuned if I were you.
