As this year's coming to an end, Spotify has named Billie Eilish their most-streamed female artist of 2020. This is the singer's second year in a row achieving this, at just 18-years-old, making her the youngest artist to top the charts.
Eilish didn't release a new album in 2020, so making it to the top of Spotify's list under this circumstance indeed says a lot about her as an artist. However, she did record three new tracks throughout the year, which were absolutely loved by her fans.
Billie's most recent song, released on November 12th, was Therefore I Am, which she co-wrote with her brother, Finneas Baird O'Connell. This is currently her most "popular" song, according to Spotify. Part of what makes Billie's journey so unique is that she works professionally with her brother, and the two clearly make an incredible duo.
Eilish released her first full-length album, When We All Fall Asleep, in 2019, and it topped Billboard's chart in an instant. She made history as such a young artist and hasn't stopped since. For now, she's not rushing to come out with her next album, as Billie and her brother "want it to be the album everyone's out dancing in the streets to," Finneas revealed.
Billie started the year off strong by winning five different Grammys back in January. Eilish was the first woman in history to take home the Big Four awards for the album, record, and song of the year, plus the best new artist of 2020.
"I joke around a lot at these things, but I genuinely want to say I'm so grateful," Billie told her fans at the Grammys. Based on what she's accomplished so far, it's likely that the artist has a lot more in store for the future, as she's currently dominating Spotify!
