Friendsgiving, which is written and directed by comedian Nicol Paone, features a cast of some of Hollywood's funniest women. Paone worked alongside actresses Malin Akerman, Kat Dennings, Aisha Tyler, and Chelsea Peretti. Akerman stars as Molly, the protagonist whose quiet Thanksgiving plans are ruined.

Molly and her childhood best friend, Abby, are recovering from difficult breakups together. At the same time, they end up hosting a chaotic Thanksgiving dinner with a mixture of friends, family, and old lovers. Akerman explained how the idea for the movie came to be.

"[Nicole Paone told me] 'Let's put together all the craziness that has ensued over the years,' and I thought this was a great way to start producing," she shared. Malin is not only the star of the show, but she is also one of the film's producers, landing the actress her first producer credit.

Despite the Hollywood big names, the comedy was a low-budget production. In an interview on The Drew Barrymore Show, Kat Dennings shared that the whole movie was filmed in one location. "The one trailer, two trailers we had we were like, down at the bottom of a hill, so none of us even bothered going to them," she said.

Aisha Tyler added, "It was a great script, and it had a lot of heart." But the best part of filming? "The comedy was kinda the icing on the cake... We were just ping-ponging all the time and laughing," Tyler said. That sounds like the Thanksgiving spirit!
