Summer can be a challenging time for hair. Whether it's the summer heat, pool chlorine, salt from the beach, it's nice to give our hair a well-deserved boost. But don't worry about having to rush to the store. We have two hair masks that you might be able to find in your kitchen.

Hopefully, you have honey, egg, and apple cider vinegar in your pantry. Those are all the ingredients you'll need for this DIY hair mask that is especially helpful for dry hair. These three simple ingredients hydrate your hair and enhance shine without losing volume or making your hair flat, says a hair colorist at NYC's IGK Salon.

In a small bowl, combine 1 teaspoon of honey, 1 egg, and 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar. Mix the ingredients thoroughly. If you have long or short hair, you can half or double the recipe. Spread the mask onto your hair and wash off after 30 to 40 minutes. Voila, you're done!

If you find yourself having the opposite of dry hair, this next mask might be the winner for you. This simple egg white and lemon mask is a good treatment for greasy hair, according to Sadah Saltzman, a stylist at NYC's Salon AKS.

The protein enzymes in the egg whites can help your greasy locks by removing excess oil from the scalp. All you'll need for this beauty recipe is 1 egg white and juice from half a lemon. You know what they say, when life gives you lemons, make face masks.

Once the lemon juice and egg white have been mixed, smooth into your hair starting at the roots and finishing at the ends. Let the mask sit for 30 minutes to one hour and rinse with lukewarm water. Fingers crossed that your hair is looking voluminous and grease-less!
