'Cherry Mocha' Nail Polish Is the Perfect Shade for the Fall

When TikTok hypes up a beauty trend, you know you have to try it out. The latest obsession on the social media platform is "cherry mocha" nail polish, and it just screams "autumn." So, for our cozy-season girlies, here's what it looks like...

Although it's been taking over TikTok recently, the purplish-maroon shade isn't new to the scene - in fact, Chanel's Rouge Noir debuted at Paris Fashion Week in the '90s and instantly became all the rage. Since then, the dark red color has been reintroduced into our fashion and beauty choices, from lipstick and nail colors to scarves and handbags. Not only that, but influencers and celebrities have made the shade work in casual looks as well as more dressy ones. To top it all off, it seems the deep red hue can fit right into just about any fall color scheme, whether it's brown, dark green, grey, white, or black.

Rita Remark, who is Essie’s global lead educator and manicurist who works for celebrities like Kendall Jenner and Meghan Markle, offered her own take on the unique shade. "There is something so quintessentially 'fall' about a crisp red manicure," she says. "Every year comes with its own variation, and this year, it's a deeper, brown-toned red." And it seems like this year, trends are all about cherry - more and more people are going for "cherry coke" hair hues, "cherry cola" lip color, and cherry-scented perfumes. "Some beauty trends start to bleed out across mediums and this is a perfect example of that," explains Remark.
