It seems like just last week we were gushing with excitement over Hailey Bieber's new skincare line. But it seems while we were fangirling over her affordable products, others weren't as excited. And they've taken their issues public in suing the A-lister over the brand name. Here's the full scoop.
It all started when Hailey made her big announcement last week that her skincare line, Rhode, was ready to go. "We are a line of curated skincare essentials made with thoughtful intention," the celeb shared on her Instagram. Named after her middle name, Rhode was Hailey's latest business baby, and it was clear she was excited for what was to come. Unfortunately, it didn't take long for that bubble to burst - thanks to some legal troubles. A fashion brand with the same name started speaking up as they've built a business with that very name for the past nine years. And according to documents shared by People, the company has dedicated itself since 2013 to "growing and nurturing the RHODE brand through much personal sacrifice and hardship." And this is no average brand, either! Celebs like Bey and Rih have been spotted in their clothes over the years...
The fashion brand also brought up the fact that the @rhode handle had been promised to them, only for Instagram to switch gears and give it to Hailey - even though she didn't use it until June of this year. And to make matters worst? This issue goes way back. "We have only the brand name "RHODE" that we've built," the brand shared on Instagram. "That's why we didn't sell her our brand when she asked four years ago and why we ask her now to change her skin-care line's brand." Yikes! "We're confident in the lawsuit's outcome, but we hope Hailey will now understand the harm we're sure she never meant to cause and change her skin-care line's brand," @shoprhode continued in their post.
