Another day and yet another 90's trend is making a comeback. This time its the platinum blonde hair look that we thought was put away in the past. Referred to in the beauty industry as a "stylish understatement," the hairstyle perfectly suits the "effortlessly chic" theme sweeping the beauty and fashion trends. So, how to make this style work for Spring 2022 and give it a 21st-century upgrade? Here's everything you need to know.

Joining the likes of the "wolf cut" and the "bixie," platinum blonde hair is one of the most sought-after hairstyles of the moment. What sets 90's blonde apart, though, is its need to look accurate and stylish and yet almost effortless at the same time. With its luxurious undertone, it gives a nod to the most fabulous blonde supermodels of the 90s, such as Claudia Schiffer and Elle McPherson, who at the time stood out from the masses with their fresh, healthy style.

Don't just take our word for it. The hairstyle was seen across the catwalks for spring/summer 2022, including brands like Chanel and Blumarine. The models showcased the look with perfectly blow-died, super healthy, glowing shiny hair that doesn't look ostentatiously luxurious. Taking the 90's trend into the present day, the blonde was softened with honey-blonde shades and beach blonde highlights.

But before you go stocking up on blonde hair dye home-kits, it's important to know that the hair's cut will contribute to the look as much as the color. Maybe best to leave it to the professionals then! Beauty experts recommend that this hair color looks the sleekest with long hair. Furthermore, they suggest keeping the layers simple in order to keep the look more preppy. Rather than handing your hairdresser a photo of Elle McPherson from back in the day, ask for a honey blonde base with sun-bleached highlights framing the face. Broader highlights at the back can help to give the appearance of voluminous hair. We can't stress this enough, the look you're going for is quietly luxurious yet perfectly groomed - so use a hairdryer and brush and get to work! You know what they say - nothing worth having comes easy!
