The #PullUpOrShutUp challenge, an internet challenge where companies share how many Black employees they have on their teams, has beauty and media brands across the board stepping up.
The challenge was launched by Uoma Beauty founder Sharon Chuter and was a call to action for the beauty industry, an industry largely dominated by white employees and executives.
Kylie Jenner's incredibly successful makeup line, Kylie Cosmetics, was one of tons of beauty brands that stepped up to the plate. They announced in an Instagram post that their company is 13% Black, 47% Black, Indigenous, or People of Color, 53% white, and 100% women-identifying.
Kylie Cosmetics also posted a lengthy caption, writing, "we are proud of the diversity within our community, with a team of Black, Whtie, Asian, Native American, Hispanic and Middle Eastern women."
Kylie also personally took to her Instagram account to share with her 180 million followers (yes, you read that right) a powerful message in support of BLM. "I fear for my daughter and I hope for a better future for her. my heart breaks for George Floyd’s family and friends. Don’t let his name be forgotten," she wrote.
