Fans were left confused (and distraught) when Addison Rae canceled her appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival just one day before she was scheduled to perform. Here's why the famous influencer chose not to hit the stage.
Addison has gone from TikTok creator to actress and singer in just a little over a year. In March, she released her first single: Obsessed. The self-love anthem was met with mixed reviews from critics. The 20-year-old has also hinted at a full album release but has yet to reveal any more details about the upcoming project. But even without a debut album out, Rae is already getting performance offers left and right.
One of her latest gigs was supposed to be the iHeartRadio Music Festival. Getting invited to perform at the annual event is a huge honor and accomplishment for any singer, which is why it came as a shock to fans when Addison announced via Instagram Stories that she would not be performing. The starlet didn't hold back in admitting why.
"Hi Y'all!" Addison wrote to her fans. "After a lot of thinking, I've decided that it's best not to perform at iheart. I want to give my fans 110% and I don't feel like I'm ready to do that. Thank you for your understanding and support. Love y'all." Even with one gig canceled, Rae has had plenty on her plate lately.
The young influencer's been nonstop with one event after another, including promoting her debut film on Netflix, He's All That. Addison went straight off the red carpet in Los Angeles to the Met Gala red carpet in New York. And her many appearances haven't been free of criticism...
Rae has been under intense scrutiny from fans after some harsh reviews of her film and negative feedback on her Met Gala outfit. Fans speculate that the recent backlash might've put too much pressure on Addison for the upcoming iHeartRadio performance. Here's to hoping for another on-stage gig in the near future!
