Mariah Carey always has a way of getting us into the holiday spirit, and this year, she's releasing an entirely new holiday production. This December, Ariana Grande and Jennifer Hudson are joining in on the fun in Mariah Carey's Magical Christmas Special.
A couple of months ago, Apple announced that Mariah will be starring in a holiday special on their streaming service, debuting on Apple TV+ in December of 2020. The special will premiere right around the 25th anniversary of the artist's iconic song, All I Want For Christmas Is You.
"Faced with a holiday cheer crisis, the North Pole knows there's only one person who can save the day: Santa's great friend, Mariah Carey," as said in the production's summary. "Combining musical performances, dynamic dancing, and groundbreaking animation, the undisputed Queen of Christmas jumps into action to create a holiday spectacular to make the world merry."
Carey gave fans a hint about who will be joining her in this year's holiday special by revealing her special guests' initials but just confirmed their identities this week. Grande and Hudson will perform a new rendition of the song, Oh Santa, alongside Carey, which she originally recorded as a part of her second Christmas album, and both stars are incredibly excited about it.
The special will also feature Tiffany Haddish, Billy Eichner, Snoop Dogg, and a few other musical icons. And Carey's proud to welcome her 9-year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe, who will be making an appearance as well.
After years of bringing holiday cheer to music, Carey's thrilled to be producing her very own Christmas production. She's teamed up with Ian Stewart, Raj Kapoor, and Ashley Edens to create the program, directed by Hamish Hamilton and Roman Coppola. So, get ready for the most wonderful time of the year, as it'll be here before you know it!
