Sitting down with Vogue for their first-ever video cover, Billie Eilish openly spoke out about her younger self and the struggle she faced growing up not loving her body. The 21-year-old Grammy Award-winning sensation shared with her followers the strenuous journey it has been over the years, feeling like her body was "gaslighting" her.

In her interview with Vogue, Eilish explained the root of her issues with her body came from "how much pain it's caused" her over the years and how much she's "lost because of things that happened to it." Eilish had dreamt of becoming a professional dancer her whole life, but "Music kind of replaced dancing" after she was diagnosed with a condition called hypermobility. The young musician shared she spent a lot of her teenage years "hating" herself after suffering from a growth plate injury in her hip at 13.

"I felt like my body was gaslighting me for years," Billie told Vogue. "I had to go through a process of being like, my body is actually me. And it's not out to get me." The Ocean Eyes singer previously shared with The Guardian that she "separates" her thinking when it comes down to what her body looks like and just lives in the moment due to her "terrible relationship" with her body. "I just have to disassociate," she admitted. "We only need them to survive. It's ridiculous that anybody even cares about bodies at all. Like, why? Why do we care? You know, when you really think about it?"

Throughout her career, the singer has been perfectly candid with her audience over her relationship with her body and what it means to be a pop star in this era who is not following the typical popstar "rules." The singer describes her personal style as "pretty weird" and is often seen wearing oversized clothing and tracksuits, which has further influenced Gen-Zers to follow suit. However, Eilish shared a big reason she wears baggy clothes is so that the public won't be able to judge or sexualize her. The young popstar told Vogue she would rather people focus on other issues in the world, such as raising awareness about climate change and the planet, rather than drilling on her baggy clothing. True. We can just never get enough of Billie and all her excellence.
