So we may not be Lady Whisteldown, but we have some tea about the star of the hit Netflix show, Bridgerton. And it turns out that fame has come with some ups and downs.
Bridgerton wasn't Phoebe Dynevor's first project in film or television. But few could deny that her star role in the Netflix romantic drama took the 26-year-old to a whole new level of fame. And while the recognition and attention have come with some serious perks, Dynevor has also learned that having all eyes on her comes with a cost. The talented actress laid it all on the table during her cover story interview with Harper's Bazaar UK, where she explained how naive she was going into the Netflix project.
Back then, Phoebe had no idea how big Bridgerton would become. "In the first season, people were saying to me, 'You know, this could be huge,' but you don't ever believe that," Dynevor explained during the interview. "And you will never understand what it feels like until it happens to you." But as the famous actress would soon learn, the sudden fame was "quite out-of-the-body and weird."
During the early stages of filming season 1 of the Shonda Rhimes drama, the UK-born actress thought of the acting gig as "just another project," unaware of what was to come. "[I] didn't think anyone was going to care," she confessed. But after being renewed for another three seasons, it's clear that people did care... a lot.
The smash success of Bridgerton fulfilled Phoebe's wildest dreams, but it also brought in a storm of doubts. "I knew that at some point, something would happen," she explained of her career's trajectory. "I just never imagined quite the scale. I don't think anyone knows how to handle that." But with more seasons lined up and the industry eagerly waiting for her to make her next move, Phoebe has been feeling the heat.
"I worry about everything," she confessed. "I'm full of anxiety. I have a fear of failure, letting someone down, contradicting myself." But luckily, thanks to a commitment to mental health, our Netflix gal is on the right track.
