She recently announced her pregnancy with a lengthy Instagram post. "I lost so much weight to go on my Maui trip only to gain it back," she revealed to her 40 million followers. "I thought 'Geez … what happened to my stomach ???' My husband said 'No you're food pregnant silly !!!' So I got a pregnancy test … and uhhhhh well … I am having a baby." The news came nearly three months after she and now-fiancé Sam Asghari enjoyed a sun-soaked vacation together on the tropical beaches of Maui. Although the Womanizer singer referred to Asghari as her husband in the caption, it remains unclear whether they've actually tied the knot.
The announcement sent fans into a frenzy, with a few confused at first whether the pop icon was, in fact, revealing that she would be having a baby. One fan wrote, "Like, for real?" while another added, "Is this a pregnancy announcement?" But the father-to-be seemed to confirm the news shortly after, with an Instagram post that read, "Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect. Fatherhood is something I have always looked forward to, and I don't take lightly. It is the most important job I will ever do." The couple, who got engaged in September 2021, has apparently had children in their plans for a while. Spears' pregnancy comes less than a year after she revealed in her testimony in June 2021 that she intends to settle down and have more babies, something she wasn't able to do under her conservatorship.
