From J.Lo to Justin Bieber: 29+ Celebrities Who Got Back Together With Their Exes
| LAST UPDATE 02/15/2023
Ariana might have said thank u, next - but these stars once felt otherwise. From Cardi to the Kardashians, have a look at some of our favorite celebs who gave their famous exes a second chance…
Devin Booker & Kendall Jenner
In true Kardashian style, Kendall Jenner's romances have always graced the headlines. Just like her sisters, she isn't a one-and-done kinda girl, making sure to test out a relationship numerous times until she's sure it's time to call it quits. Kendall's partner in crime? NBA star Devin Booker.
Although the supermodel has mostly kept her love life private, Booker made it to the 'gram in Jenner's 2021 Valentine's Day post. To everyone's disappointment (mostly niece, Stormi!), the pair reportedly split in June 2022. After a brief reunion, People confirmed they had split again in October 2022.
Prince William & Kate Middleton
Prince William and Kate's love may be like something out of a Disney fairy tale, but even princesses and princes can break up and get back together again! Unbeknownst to many, Kate and Wills (that's what she calls him!) actually took a break after meeting and dating throughout their years together at college.
In the Summer of 2007, the couple realized their time apart had been a mistake, and they started things back up again. Three years later, the Royal lovebirds announced their engagement and exchanged vows in front of the entire world in 2011. Three adorable children later, they're living the ultimate royal fairytale.
Pamela Anderson & Tommy Lee
Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee's tumultuous relationship has been so eventful over the years, Hulu deemed it necessary to cover it all in their 2022 limited series, Pam and Tommy. It all began in 1995 when the pair wed on a beach four days after meeting. The next two years saw them welcoming two children together.
By early 1998, Pamela had filed for divorce from her husband twice, but that was far from the end. Up until 2009, the couple could not seem to stay away from each other, reuniting and separating on numerous occasions. In February 2019, Lee married Brittany Furlan, seemingly ending the 'Pammy' saga forever.
Shakira & Gerard Pique
In contrast to the singer's own lyrics, it appears Shakira and on-again-off-again flame Gerard Pique were not meant to be together. After first meeting on the set of her 2010 World Cup anthem Waka Waka, the two confirmed their romance to the public in 2011. By January 2015, the couple had welcomed two children into the world.
When news of their breakup spread in June 2022 after rumors of Pique's infidelity, no one saw it coming. Although Univision journalist Jordi Martin Pique claimed Pique attempted to reunite with the singer by moving back in, it was a short-lived, failed attempt... and the two split one month later. Gerard is now dating Clara Chia Marti.
Leonardo DiCaprio & Toni Garrn
The charming Hollywood playboy may have an array of female suitors ready and waiting to be his new Juliet, but even Mr. DiCaprio isn't against trying to rekindle an old flame. In 2017, the internet was left buzzing after the actor was spotted holding hands with his ex-girlfriend Toni Garrn.
The pair made waves back in 2013 when news of their romance first surfaced. After dating for a year, the two called it quits in December 2014. Three years later, 2017 saw them coming together in an entirely unforeseen reunion. Now no longer linked, it seems Leo is still enjoying the '25 Club.'
Jay-Z & Beyoncé
Remember a time when Bey and Jay weren't crazy in love? We know, it's hard. But according to several reports, that's exactly what happened back in 2005. Allegedly, the Queen and her King called it quits for a brief period of time. Why?
Perhaps we'll never know - the details of their apparent split are very hush-hush. What we do know, though, is that these two are unbreakable. From Jay's public infidelity to the tea - well, lemonade - that was spilled shortly after, this power couple has seen it all. But they're not going anywhere anytime soon.
Sophie Turner & Joe Jonas
Remember when we watched these wild childs get hitched in Vegas, calling for ring pops, a late-night swim, and Diplo on DJ duty? Well, it almost never happened. "It was the worst day of our lives," the Game of Thrones goddess confessed of her and Joe's secret split - 24 hours before their wedding.
Yes, really. What happened? "For a second, we both had cold feet," the actress revealed. Thankfully, we all know how this story ends, and the two are couple goals to this very day. "Long live the QUEEN OF THE MF NORTH," Joe Jonas gushed of his Mrs. Agreed.
Travis Scott & Kylie Jenner
"Stormi, I love you, and wifey, I love you:" In June 2021, as Travis Scott hopped on stage to accept an award at a Parsons Benefit, his acceptance speech left us scrambling. Was he referring to who we thought he was referring to? (Psst, indeed he was.)
6 years, 2 babies, and endless rumors later, their relationship has taken yet another shocking turn as the two appear to have split up again. On the bright side, however, a source close to the couple claims that "this is probably not the end of their relationship." Our fingers are crossed.
Halsey & G-Eazy
While she once promised it'd always be him & I, Halsey's romance with G-Eazy is officially history. The two first made their couple's debut back in 2017. And, well, let's just say, a whole lot has changed since then. "Does it ever get lonely? Thinking you could live without me," the Without Me singer eventually shaded the rapper.
After breaking up in 2018, briefly reuniting, and then calling it quits months later, the artists quickly went from power-couple to public enemies. "You dragged my name, I don't say $%@&, but let somebody say 'G-Eazy,' you go ape@$#%," the Had Enough rapper shaded Halsey of their messy split. Yikes.
Rose Leslie & Kit Harington
"I fancied the hell out of her, and I was falling in love with her," Kit Harington confessed after crossing paths with Rose Leslie on set back in 2011. But while their time beyond the Wall may have been cut short, the Game of Thrones co-stars finally got their happy ending off-screen.
But not without a few road bumps along the way. After their alleged initial fling fizzled out in 2013, we had to wait 3 long years before these two finally confirmed their off-screen romance. "I thank the show for everything," Harington revealed. "But more than anything else? I thank it for introducing me to her." Brb, crying.
Rihanna & A$AP Rocky
As A$AP once put it, "When you know, you know." Sure enough, when it comes to him and his long-time rumored fling, things have never been more clear: "She's the one," the rapper finally confessed to GQ of Robyn Rihanna Fenty back in May 2021. But where does their story even begin?
From collabs to red-carpet debuts, these two have actually been close friends for years. We just didn't realize, well, just how friendly these two really were. Today, RiRi is "the love of A$AP's life," as the rapper proudly put it. In fact, at February's Super Bowl, the artist was seen cheering on his baby mama as she dominated the Halftime stage.
Angelina Jolie & Jonny Lee Miller
Here's something we never thought we'd hear: in 2021, Angelina Jolie was spotted leaving her ex's apartment ages after their public split. No, we're not talking about Brad (sorry to disappoint.) We're talking about Jonny Lee Miller, the British actor Angie married - and ultimately divorced back in 1999.
What had gone wrong? Your guess is as good as ours: "I really wanted to be his wife. I really wanted to commit," Jolie confessed to the Calgary Sun of their amicable 1997 split. Might wedding bells be in their near future... again? We guess only time will tell here. Stay tuned. And in the meantime, keep scrolling.
Chrissy Teigen & John Legend
Back in the day, when John Legend asked for some time apart from Chrissy Teigen, her mind was already all made up: "No," the model revealed of the words her almost-ex was met with. What happened that led to their split (which, by the way, lasted for one whole day)?
"Early on in the relationship, I was on tour with him. He was feeling really bummed and stressed out," Teigen recalled to Cosmopolitan. But while her "whiny face" husband (her words, not ours) wanted to go on a break, she felt otherwise. "So yeah, I was like, 'no.'" How romantic.
Justin & Hailey Bieber
Is it too late now to say sorry? Our next couple has had more breakups (and makeups) than we could possibly keep count of. But that's exactly why we love them: They've been through it all together, and yet Hailey is still the "most lovable human on the face of the earth" - at least where the Biebs is concerned.
But she wasn't always his baby. "There was a period where if I walked into a room, he'd walk out," Hailey confessed of their secret 2016 split. So many questions. But while we'll never know what truly went down behind closed doors, we do know that this now-married couple is stronger than ever. And we don't know who we're more jealous of.
J.Lo & Ben Affleck
Our next love story is one for the books - and by books, we mean every single magazine cover in the country. After meeting on the set of Gigli back in 2002, these two dominated the 2000s. That was until they called it quits two years later. "We were on the cover of the magazine every week, and it was just... a weird thing," J.Lo confessed.
Sure enough, their time in People was actually far from over. In June 2021, the exes found their way back together after shocking us with a reunion we never saw coming. From dates to PDA-filled outings, #Bennifer is BACK. "Everything is just amazing. And I feel great," Jenny gushed. Today, the lovers are happily married and have never been better.
The Weeknd & Bella Hadid
Remember when we watched Bella strut her stuff on that Victoria's Secret runway... all while her ex serenaded her from the sidelines? Awkward, we know. But long before their infamous 2016 reunion, the supermodel was actually happy to watch the pop star call out her name.
"It just kind of fell into my lap," the Weeknd confessed to Rolling Stone of the moment he and Bella began dating back in 2015. Sure enough, for the next few years, we'd watched them breakup... and makeup... and breakup again, before finally calling it quits for good in August 2019.
Justin Timberlake & Jessica Biel
Whoever said what goes around comes around was clearly talking about JT and his Mrs. In case you forgot, the artist and his actress wife have been happily married since 2012. But they had to make it through several road bumps before finally coming full-circle.
"She is the single-handedly most significant person in my life," Timberlake revealed back in 2011 after their sudden split. Sure enough, his words rang true a year later after the two reconciled and went on to tie the knot. So feel free to say bye, bye, bye to any breakup rumors when it comes to these lovebirds.
Dax Shepard & Kristen Bell
"I, like, liquefied and fell to the ground," Kristen Bell confessed of her former split from husband, Dax Shepard. "He sat me down and said, 'I can't have this right now." Safe to say, the couple's reality looks very different today. So what exactly had gone wrong?
As Bell recalled, she was hit with an "it's not you, it's me" back in 2007 - mere months after the two began dating. "I think you're wonderful, but I'm still dating other people," Shepard had told her. As fate would have it, though, Dax soon realized he'd made a big mistake, called her up, and they've been in a good place ever since.
Offset & Cardi B
"It's my life! I belong to me - not to the world," Offset's loyal girlfriend snapped as infidelity rumors began to hijack their relationship back in 2018. Unfortunately, the Bodak Yellow artist finally had enough by 2020 and officially filed for divorce.
That is, until she called it off shortly after. How did Cardi explain it? "We're just really typical, two young mofos who got married early - that's what we are," the rapper joked. "We're not no different than y'all… dysfunctional relationships. We are the same." Okurrr.
Gigi Hadid & Zayn Malik
From pillowtalk to parenthood, #Zigi has come quite a long way since their initial debut back in 2016. After splitting in 2018... and reuniting months later, the power couple has taken us on one whirlwind of a ride. But after the altercation between Malik and Gigi's mother, it's hard to say the two will reconcile anytime soon.
The tension apparently began when Yolanda Hadid "posted photos of Khai on her social media, even though Zayn wants to be private." Uh-oh. However, the Gigi and her baby daddy appear to be determined to share their parental duties despite their split.
Wilmer Valderrama & Demi Lovato
From hanging out down the street to happily in love with a pop star, Wilmer Valderrama has come a long way since his time in Wisconsin. After crossing paths with a 17-year-old Lovato back in 2010, it was practically love at first sight. Or at least that's how the lovestruck singer remembers it.
"We connected on a level that I've never connected with anybody before," Demi recalled of the That 70's Show actor. Sure enough, the two went on to date - before calling it quits for good in 2016 after several splits in between. But despite all the bumps along the way, they'll remain the "best of friends no matter what," as Demi assured.
Liam Hemsworth & Miley Cyrus
Long before she came in like a wrecking ball, Cyrus’s romance with Hemsworth was one for the books - literally. After meeting on set of Nicholas Spark’s The Last Song, it was practically love at first sight for these co-stars. Unfortunately, their time off-screen doesn’t have a happy ending.
From breaking up to making up more times than we can count, these teenage sweethearts eventually called it quits - for good - in 2019. (*Cue Miley's Flowers*). And while it might no longer be a party in the USA for these two, their time together will forever live on in our memories.
Behati Prinsloo & Adam Levine
Much like Miley Cyrus and her teenage sweetheart, our next couple's time together has taken them on one rollercoaster of a ride. But don't take our word for it. "It was a wild ride!" Behati Prinsloo recalled of her relationship with the Maroon 5 rocker.
What happened? To put it simply, “We broke up for two months, realized that it was the worst decision, then got back together, got engaged and got married,” as Prinsloo explained. Despite facing cheating rumors back in October 2022, the two are still going strong today.
Tristan Thompson & Khloe Kardashian
"I just remember thinking you are the bravest, calmest, most honorable person I've ever met," Kimmy recalled of the moment her baby sis' relationship with Tristan Thompson exploded on our screens. Sure enough, despite locking lips with another lady (ahem, sister Kylie's then-BFF), KoKo gave her unfaithful man another chance.
But after a rollercoaster year, Khloe Kardashian and Tristan Thompson finally decided to go their separate ways. Despite recently being there for her baby daddy in his time of need following the passing of his mother, she has confirmed that she has "no man right now."
Harry Jowsey & Francesca Farago
While the details of their breakup may have started off as murky, they certainly didn't end that way. "I broke up with her," Harry Jowsey shaded in a YouTube upload, shortly after he and his Netflix co-star called it quits back in 2020. But he wasn't the only one with lots to say.
"[He] was saying things that I would love to hear… and then his actions didn't match," Farago spilled, as she rushed online to share her side. Whatever the case may have been, the couple almost gave things another go this past June but ultimately called things off. We guess their love was too hot to handle, after all.
Dwyane Wade & Gabrielle Union
"I couldn't sleep. I wasn't eating," Dwayne Wade confessed of the moment he came clean to his Mrs: back in 2013, as he and Union decided to take a break, the NBA star headed down a slippery slope. "Hardest thing I've ever had to do is man up and tell Gabrielle [about it]." What happened?
A fling with Basketball Wives star Aja Metoyer led Wade to father a child with the reality star. But the brief detour actually brought him and Union back together. "We came back together and [said], 'Listen, we want to continue this," Wade gushed. Sure enough, 1 proposal and 1 blended family later, the two are now happier than ever.
Will Smith & Jada Pinkett
"We ride together, we die together, bad marriage for life," the Smiths joked about their time as Mr. and Mrs. From entanglements to exposing their relationship, the Fresh Prince and his lucky lady have no problem keeping it real. You know, like the time they "basically broke up" back in 2016...
As they explained, they'd hit a bump in the road - leading Jada to 28-year-old rapper August Alsina. But it wouldn't last long: "We did everything we could to get away from each other only to realize that wasn't possible," Pinkett recalled of finding her way back to her husband shortly after. How sweet.
Kourtney Kardashian & Scott Disick
Granted, she's now with tatted-up rocker Travis Barker. But how about back when #Scourtney was still very much a thing? We know, it's been a while, but the former couple's rollercoaster of a ride will forever dominate reality-tv hall of fame.
From fights to flirty exchanges to everything in between, we've just about seen it all when it comes to Keeping Up's finest. And while the co-parents might not be linked up at this very moment, we stan to see them finally in a good place. "If things are so good now, why would we want to change that?" Kourt explained. Fair point.
Ashton Kutcher & Mila Kunis
Okay fine, their initial fling may have only existed on our screens. But back in 1998, as a 14-year-old Mila lied her way onto the That 70's Show stage ("I told them that I was a little bit older"), her love-life was already written out for her - literally.
After playing lovers on our screen, Kunis and her That 70's Show co-star eventually went on to rip a page out of their book - well, scripts. "We lived our movies out," the actress gushed after she and Kutcher (who, by the way, was her first kiss) finally made things official in 2012. Long live Jackie and Kelso...
Blac Chyna & Rob Kardashian
"The beginning..." Blac Chyna gushed back in 2016 after making things Insta-official with her man. Safe to say, she and Rob may have let on a little more than anticipated after taking their relationship public. Just months later, right in time for the holidays, the lovebirds went on to call it quits - though it wouldn't last long.
The months that followed called for endless breakups, makeups, and brutal blowouts on the 'gram. From alleged infidelities to custody battles over their baby girl, Dream, the couple's public feud led to their final split in 2017. "I was trying to give her a chance... but, you know - it just never reconciled," Rob reflected.
Cole Sprouse & Lili Reinhart
Much like Rose Leslie & Kit Harington, our next famous faces have casting directors to thank for their romance. After meeting on-set of Riverdale, we watched as Betty and Jughead fell in love on our screens - when they weren't busy fighting off the Gargoyle King, of course.
"I'm not surprised… they have great chemistry," co-star Skeet Ulrich soon hinted of the co-stars' off-screen romance back in 2017. Unfortunately, he may have jumped the gun there. By March 2020, after dating on and off for years, the couple announced they "permanently split." And honestly, we've been recovering ever since.
Megan Fox & Brian Austin Green
"I was shocked, and I was upset about it," Brian Austin Green recalled of the moment his marriage came crumbling: 3 kids and 10 years later, he and Megan's relationship came to an official end as she filed for divorce in 2020. And while we all know who soon took his place, (*ahem, MGK*) where did it all start?
After meeting on set back in 2004, an 18-year-old Megan instantly had eyes for her co-star. Sure enough, so did he: from that moment forward, their love story took off - calling for more ups and downs than we could keep tabs on. Unfortunately, the two eventually called it quits - for good this time - come 2020.
Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom
Sure, there might be lots of fireworks these days, but it wasn't always that way when it came to these two. Back in 2017, as the artist and her actor beau first called it quits, it nearly broke Perry in half. But believe it or not, she wouldn't have wanted it any other way.
"It was so important for me to be broken so that I could find my wholeness in a whole different way," Perry reflected of her darker days. Sure enough, the two eventually got back together by 2018 and welcomed a daughter together. And lucky for Miss Perry, her days spent worrying about the one that got away are officially long gone.
Jen Harley & Ronnie Ortiz-Magro
Rahn, stop. Unfortunately for our next duo, they don't exactly share the same happy ending as Katy and Orlando. "Note to self... if you find them in the gutter, then leave them in the gutter," the Jersey Shore star shaded his very explosive ride with his now-ex Jen Harley. Ouch. But it wasn't always that way...
The two started on-off dating in 2017, before splitting for good in 2019. But unlike Ron's situation with Sammi, this romance didn't end with a letter. The duo has since accused one another of raising fists (not to be confused with their fist-pumps over at Karma). And while we'll never know what truly went down, we wish them the best.
Dale Moss & Clare Crawley
Back in 2020, as we tuned into the latest hopeful's journey to finding love, it may have just been the most dramatic season yet (*cue Chris Harrison): after just 4 weeks, Bachelorette star Clare left us speechless after hopping in a limo and riding off with contestant Dale. But don't think they rode off into the sunset together.
After a "mutual" breakup - at least where Dale was concerned, months later, the couple's split got messy real quick. "I was made aware of a 'mutual' statement at the same time you all were," Clare shaded her ex shortly after. Whatever the case may have been, the two were engaged... again, by July 2021. And then split again for good.
