Former Nickelodeon star, Jamie Lynn Spears, recently announced the release of her new memoir titled Things I Should Have Said. The book supposedly chronicles her truth with mental health struggles from a life under the spotlight. But the book is off to a rough start as Jamie's plans to donate the book's profits have been rejected by her chosen charity.
The Zoey 101 alumn has been working on the new book for "a long time" she said, with the hopes that readers would see through her experiences and understand where she was coming from. It was also why she opted to donate proceeds from sales to a charity advocating for mental health, This Is My Brave. Lynn shared further details about the decision on Instagram admitting, "I know how scary it can be to share personal struggles, especially if you don’t think you have the support or safe space to do so." Adding, "They’re doing amazing things to support and encourage people as they bravely share their experiences."

But amidst intense outcry from #FreeBritney fans, the mental health nonprofit made the decision not to accept any of the promised proceeds and asked to be excluded from the narrative altogether. This sent the internet buzzing as Britney herself joined the conversation with a humorous jab at the announcement. The star stated that she should write her own book titled "S**t, I really don't know," and confessed multiple times how she felt "abandoned" by her younger sister, Jamie Lynn, who let her down in critical moments in her life.
The controversial memoir was only the latest in the public drama surrounding Lynn's actions, or lack thereof, regarding her sister's desperate cries for help. Supporters have been critical of the passive role Lynn seemed to play in the situation, which resulted in a lawsuit against their father's 13-year conservatorship over Britney's affairs, estate, and medical care.
As of now, Jamie Lynn's representatives have yet to comment on the situation while the book remains scheduled to hit shelves on January 18th, 2022.
