Chase Stokes Reveals He Was Homeless Before Outer Banks

John B might know a thing or two about being on the run, but off-screen? His reality is just as action-packed. The Outer Banks actor just opened up about life before becoming a Netflix star. And if by some chance you didn't love him before? We've got a feeling you're about to appreciate him a whole lot more.

During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Chase Stokes revealed how he started his journey onto our screens: "two pairs of underwear, three t-shirts and a pair of shorts." Yes, really. Long before we came to love him as a Pogue, Stokes was another boy with a dream, struggling to make ends meet.

“Every day, I would try to find a different parking spot, and it worked out,” the actor confessed of being homeless before landing the role of a lifetime. “It worked out. I never got caught.” Not only did Stokes come clean about living in his car, but he also revealed the random gigs he’d once landed in an attempt to put food on the table.

From working as a server (including a gig at an Oscar party for Elton John, btw) to bartending at a local bar, the actor was just about ready to give up on his dreams of making it big. But on Easter Sunday, all of that changed: "He said, 'You're getting on a plane in two hours. You're going to Charleston,'" Stokes recalled of the moment his agent told him he'd landed the role of John B.
