In a recent interview with Australia's 60 Minutes, Cody Simpson discussed his 10-month romance with Miley Cyrus and why the two icons ultimately went their separate ways. Here's everything you need to know.
Remember that time Miley and Liam called it quits (as if we could forget), and then the former Disney Channel star began dating Mr. Simpson? Well, Cyrus's ex-beau finally opened up about their romance. "I'd known her for a long time at that point," Cody said. "She'd kind of acted almost as like a, not as a mentor, but she was always a heightened creative person."
"We went from kind of being good friends and just having a lot of the same friends to being together for a while," the star continued before dipping into details surrounding the breakup. "Everything ended fairly amicably. It was just one of those phases I guess you go through, and you learn a lot from it."
Our girl Miley isn't the only Hollywood figure the singer-turned-swimmer has previously been linked with. Before Gigi Hadid welcomed a baby girl with Zayn Malik, she dated Simpson on and off for roughly two years. He was later linked to Lindsay Lohan's little sister, Ali. And back in 2011, Kylie Jenner was in the pic, too.
Cody's parents also partook in the 60 Minutes Australia interview and were asked if they were "100% supportive" of all of their son's "high profile girlfriends." "Some I were ... He had some lovely girls. We've had some interesting rides and dinners at different people's places," his mom responded. "He's a romantic, hopeless romantic. He falls, he falls hard."
Can you blame the guy? With exes like Miley and Gigi, we sure can't. The Plastic Hearts singer addressed the split herself back in August 2020 after nearly ten months of PDA-filled posts on the Gram. "For now, two halves can't make a whole, and we're individually working on ourselves to become the people that we wanna be," Cyrus said. "Don't make it some drama story if next week we're out hanging out or getting pizza. We've been friends for 10 years, and we're gonna continue to be friends." We'll let you know if that pizza date ever happens...
