Colton Underwood's journey to finding love has taken us on one roller coaster of a ride (well, "journey," if we're asking Chris Harrison). But despite the fence climbing, fueled rumors, and fiery allegations along the way, it appears the Bachelor star is officially living his best life.
On Wednesday, May 12, the reality star sat down with Variety to give an inside look at his newfound reality - including, of course, his decision to come out as gay on Good Morning America back in April. Unfortunately, while the brave revelation is one he now embraces with open arms, Colton faced many hardships along the way.
"I'll just say it. I, at one point, during my rock bottom and spiral, was getting blackmailed," the star revealed. What happened? As he put it, an anonymous onlooker had discovered his decades-long secret and was threatening to expose him. Eventually, though, Colton decided to take a stand and take matters into his own hands.
"I knew that out of anybody in my world, my publicist wasn't going to ruin me," he revealed of his decision to confide to his publicist about what was really going on. It was then, after opening up to his trusted confidant, that the reality star made the applaudable decision to come out to the rest of us.
In case you forgot, the Bachelor star first opened up about his love life to Robin Roberts for Good Morning America back in the beginning of April. As Colton put it, he decided he was ready to live his truth. And we're so happy he did. "I'm still the same Colton everybody met on TV... I just happen to be able to share with people now all of me," he gushed.
Safe to say, we couldn't be happier for Colton for embracing his true self. And while he may have turned the page on his former chapter with Cassie, we've got a feeling this is just the beginning.
Stay tuned...
