Bad news, guys: Emma Roberts and Garrett Hedlund, who initially sparked dating rumors back in 2019, have officially called it quits. Just a year after welcoming their first child together, the couple have decided to part ways. And apparently, co-parenting their baby, Rhodes Roberts, hasn't been too easy. Here's what we know.
According to PEOPLE, the couple decided to break up following a few months of tension in their relationship. This comes just one month after they celebrated their child's first birthday. Roberts had posted photos of the big day to her Instagram, writing, "Loved every second of it. I love you Rhodes." She had also previously shared her first photos of her newborn son in December 2020. "Thank you 2020 for getting one thing right," Roberts wrote, calling baby Rhodes her and Hedlund's "bright light." The American Horror Story actress has always been rather protective of her son, ensuring that every one of her and her then-boyfriend's decisions is always in his best interest. PEOPLE had also previously reported that Hedlund "totally stepped it up" to support his baby mama when their child was born. But the pair found it unexpectedly difficult to raise a newborn in a pandemic.
Although it seems that these two were able to get through tough times together in the past, things don't appear to be as promising today. Of the couple's split, PEOPLE has allegedly reported, "It's sad, and they are trying their best to co-parent. It's been hard." We don't doubt it for a minute! And as if things weren't challenging enough for the Hollywood couple, TMZ has since reported another dramatic turn of events: Hedlund was taken into custody in Franklin County in Tennessee just one day after the announcement of the couple's break-up. Fortunately, according to the newspaper, he was later released on a $2,100 bond and is due back in court in March 2022.
