In an atmosphere of profound sadness, we share the tragic news that Angus Cloud, the young actor who found fame portraying the character Fezco “Fez” O’Neill in HBO's Euphoria, has passed away on Monday in Oakland, California. At a mere 25 years old, his life ended abruptly and unexpectedly. The Oakland Fire Department, responding to a medical emergency around 11:30 a.m., reported he was “already deceased” upon their arrival. The cause of his passing remains unknown. The Oakland Police Department confirmed that the case remains an “active death investigation.”

In a heartfelt statement, Cloud’s family expressed their mourning, “It is with the heaviest heart that we had to say goodbye to an incredible human today. As an artist, a friend, a brother, and a son, Angus was special to all of us in so many ways.” They revealed his recent struggle with the loss of his father, whom he was very close to. They also shed light on Angus's openness about his personal struggle with mental health issues and expressed hope that his death may serve as a reminder for others to not endure their struggles in silence. Cloud first gained recognition through his role as Fez in HBO’s award-winning teen drama series Euphoria. His performance was highly acclaimed, and he continued to play a pivotal role in the show's first two seasons. He also had acting credits in films like North Hollywood (2021) and The Line (2023). Recently, he was cast opposite Melissa Berrera in a new horror movie by Universal Pictures directed by Scream 6 directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. Cloud also appeared in several music videos, including Noah Cyrus’ All Three, Juice WRLD’s Cigarettes, and Becky G and Karol G’s Miamiii. Remembered as an honoree at Variety’s annual Power of Young Hollywood event, Cloud often reminisced about his unexpected journey into acting, which began when he was discovered while hanging out with friends. Despite the common misconceptions about his job being easy, Cloud insisted that it was far from simple, and that he brought much depth and nuance to his character.

HBO expressed their sorrow, stating, “We are incredibly saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Cloud. He was immensely talented and a beloved part of the HBO and Euphoria family. We extend our deepest condolences to his friends and family during this difficult time.” Born Conor Angus Cloud Hickey, he attended Oakland School of the Arts alongside his Euphoria co-star Zendaya. Before his sudden rise to fame, he worked in a Brooklyn restaurant. His untimely death indeed leaves a void in the hearts of his fans and loved ones alike.
