She may be an incredibly successful supermodel, influencer, YouTuber, and businesswoman, but Hailey Bieber has her struggles just like the rest of us. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the wife of Justin Bieber recently posted a YouTube video in which she openly discussed her ongoing battles with mental health, crediting therapy for her progress so far. Here's what she had to say...

Hailey Bieber is no stranger to "negative attention" online. Whether it's passionate fans hurling abuse at her for being married to the ex-boyfriend of Selena Gomez or people that just don't like the things she does, she's had to deal with the online hate for years. Understandably, this began to take a toll on her mental health - and she decided to seek help. "There are several things I like to do to check in with myself. One of those things being talk to somebody you trust. It's something that I felt not sure of in the beginning; but the more I've grown my relationship with my therapist, it has been such a game-changer for me, and it's a space where I feel really safe to be able to talk about what's going on in my mind, say things out loud and feel safe and not feel judged."

While some celebrities laugh off the hate or block the abusers out of their minds, Hailey explains that this is harder for her to do. "I'm somebody who struggles with people-pleasing and really wanting everybody to like me and caring a lot about what people have to say and what they think," she admitted. For Hailey, quitting social media altogether was never an option because she believes in its positives. "I think it's a really wonderful and beautiful tool to be able to connect with people. There's a lot about it that I also do love and I'm just in a space where I'm trying to have the healthiest relationship with social media that I possibly can."

Alongside therapy, Hailey explains she also finds comfort in spending time in nature (*cue the hot girl walk*) taking baths, and practicing breathing exercises. She also takes short social media breaks to limit the amount she exposes herself to the hate and comparisons online. Make sure to catch the full interview on YouTube.
