Earlier this year in April, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck announced that they had gotten engaged (for the second time)! And now the happy couple has just released a statement sharing with the world that they officially tied the knot last Saturday after 20 years since they first planned to. Here are all the details about the intimate ceremony.
On Sunday, July 17, JLo revealed details about the wedding in her newsletter. "Last night we flew to Vegas, stood in line for a license with four other couples, all making the same journey to the wedding capital of the world," she wrote. "We barely made it to the little white wedding chapel by midnight. They graciously stayed open late a few minutes, let us take pictures in a pink Cadillac convertible, evidently once used by the king himself (but if we wanted Elvis himself to show, that cost extra and he was in bed)."
Luckily for her, the actress had an entire closet filled with gowns, but she ended up choosing a white dress she had previously worn in a movie. And her beau, Ben, rocked a nice jacket he too already had in his closet. She explained in a video that she had been having it, and "Now I'm wearing it on my wedding day." Although it wasn't the luxurious and glamourous wedding fans had expected from the A-list couple, they seemed to have had "the best possible wedding [they] could have imagined." And honestly, we couldn't be happier for them! After all, they have been waiting for this day for far too long. The two originally met back in 2001, before getting engaged in 2002. Sadly, it was called off in 2004, and the world was devastated...until now.
"When love is real, the only thing that matters in marriage is one another and the promise we make to love, care, understand, be patient, loving and good to one another," the 52-year-old star wrote. "We had that. And so much more. Best night of our lives." She continued to gush about the magical night. "They were right when they said, 'all you need is love.'" She signed off the newsletter with love, Mrs. Jennifer Lynn Affleck. To read the rest of what she wrote check out On The JLo to sign up for the exclusive newsletter. Congrats to the newlyweds!
