JoJo Siwa Fights To Get On-Screen Kiss Cut From Upcoming Film: "I'm Trying To Get It Pulled"
| LAST UPDATE 06/02/2021
JoJo Siwa is on a mission. Her meteoric rise to fame brought a world of opportunity to the young Youtuber, including the chance to go Hollywood. But now, she's run into a problem in an upcoming film.
The 18-year-old was offered a role in the film adaptation of Megan Shull's novel, Bounce. The story follows Franny, an average teenage girl whose wish came true when she magically switched families. The role gives JoJo the chance to flex her acting muscles and play a fictional character. But, there's a snag: The script includes a kissing scene, and the happily taken actress isn't going to let it fly. Siwa sat down with Entertainment Weekly to explain why. "I'm madly in love, and I do not want to kiss another human," JoJo said. "Especially because it's a man."
For those of us needing a refresher, the glittery superstar came out as pansexual in 2021. The young celebrity was head over heels for long-time friend Kylie Prew, and the feelings were mutual. According to JoJo, born Joelle Joanie, Kylie has no problem with the scene. But besides being in love, Siwa recognizes her larger-than-life status and how the kiss could confuse fans. "That's what they look at me as, not some character, not some fictional thing. And so it's going to be a little weird," she explained of the role.
Overall the star isn't sweating it. Though JoJo isn't "about" the scene, she's confident it will get cut. "It'll happen. It'll get pulled," the actress stated. The young artist has loads of self-confidence, something that has definitely served her well while tackling the ups and downs of fame. "My mind does not change," Siwa said of her stubbornness. And though at times it could be "a blessing and a curse," it certainly comes in handy in this case.
According to IMDb, the upcoming film Bounce hasn't finished production yet. So, with no official release date, we'll have to wait and see if JoJo gets her way or not. So be sure to check back with us for more updates...
