Twenty years ago, the world met Kelly Clarkson on American Idol. She was 19 years old with blonde streaks in her chocolate brown hair. America fell in love with her as they voted for her to win the ground-breaking singing competition show week after week. She was crowned the first winner, and it didn't stop there.
Since her time being judged by Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul, Clarkson's career has continued to skyrocket. She has over 70 awards, including three Grammy Awards. The "Since U Been Gone" singer has recorded nine studio albums, including two holiday albums. The Texas native hosts her very own daytime talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show, which has won a Daytime Emmy Award. On top of all that, she has voiced roles in movies, like Moxy in UglyDolls and Delta Dawn in Trolls World Tour. Now, 20 years after her life changed, she reflects on everything she has been through.
The now 40-year-old star told E! News, "I feel like I've progressed as a human. At the same time, though, I do feel very similar and very tied to that 19-year-old girl that first auditioned." When asked if she had any advice to give her younger self before she rose to stardom, she replied, "I don't know if I'd tell myself anything." There are lessons to learn with everything that happens in life, and Clarkson would rather not give up those teaching moments. The mom of two has a good head on her shoulders. She goes through each day with the philosophy of living life to the fullest.
