If you're like us, then all the time at home, thanks to the winter weather and pandemic, has led you to revisit some of our favorite classics - and that, without a doubt, includes the Twilight film trilogy. But it seems like we're not the only ones, in fact, the movie series has made a serious comeback in popularity this past year... and Kristen Stewart has noticed.
It was in a recent sit-down with Entertainment Tonight that Kristen Stewart took a break from her Oscar hype-filled life to address the rise in popularity Twilight has made. The rise is greatly contributed to the return of the films to Netflix's streaming platform - coupled with a widely popular Twitter account named Twilight Renaissance, which has raked in over 73,000 followers. According to the Spencer actress, the renaissance is nothing short of "rad" and "amazing," and she's happy to see the nostalgia surrounding her old project. "I had no idea, [but] it's great," Stewart gushed about the pop culture trend. "I saw that it was on Netflix... like, it was on there while I was looking through."
But the years aren't lost on Kristen, who's also feeling her age when it comes to the revival. "Dude, it's weird because it feels incredibly far away and also still not that far away from me and my time on this film," the 31-year-old actress explained during the interview. "On one hand, you're like, 'Oh, I'm old, my G-d, I did this five minutes ago. And now it's like, 10-year anniversary.'" And it may be a bit too much for her to process. "I'm like, 'Wow, I have to go to my high school anniversary already," the all-grown-up actress joked. But all jokes aside, the revival in popularity thanks to the Twitter account has brought a lot of joy to fans who are able to travel back in time (to Twilight's peak era in the late 2000s).
