Lady Gaga received the first-ever Tricon Award at this year's MTV Video Music Awards on August 30th. Gaga was honored with titles as Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Video of the Year and accepted the award in an extremely humble manner.
"I want you to know that I failed over and over again as an actress and as a musician when I was young and," revealed Gaga. She also discussed that one of the most meaningful parts of being a star has been giving back to the community through the Born This Way foundation that she started with her mother.
🥺 Couldn’t have received an award like this without everyone I love. Thank you for supporting and loving me. I love the world so much. https://t.co/Kfz0yepKs0— Lady Gaga (@ladygaga) August 31, 2020
"This is so cool. This means a lot to me," Gaga told viewers. "I've been making music since I was a little girl, and even though I had really, really big dreams, I truly never could have imagined that someday I would be given an award like this that honored me for so many of my passions."
Lady Gaga genuinely used her recognition at the VMAs to encourage her fans to continue to be brave and stay healthy during this unusual time in the world. "I want to share this award with everybody at home tonight," said Gaga. "Everybody at home that is their own form of a Tricon."
And not to mention, this unbelievable artist showed off some pretty epic face masks during the course of the night, emphasizing the importance of following coronavirus protocol. Even during her performance with Ariana Grande, both pop stars rocked their masks on stage.
"I want nothing more than to be your artist in 2020," Gaga told her fans. "It's a total privilege. I love you. Stay safe." And we couldn't be more excited to watch this icon make musical history during such a crazy year.
