Maluma is making history as the first male to appear on the cover of Elle Magazine in February 2021. Maluma also gave fans a look inside what he's been up to over the last year. Even with a global pandemic putting his world tour on pause, the Columbian artist's career has been thriving, and his music just keeps getting better and better.

"Thank you @elleusa for making me the first male on the cover of the magazine, this means a lottttt to me!" the artist shared on Instagram. "Let's keep dreaming and achieving." In August of 2020, Maluma released his fifth studio album, Papi Juancho. The album includes collaborations with Darell, Zion, and numerous other artists.

"Of course 2020 has been a very difficult year for all of us, but I feel like this was my best year so far, musically, artistically, and personally," he told Elle. "I feel like I was reborn." Maluma also revealed that he's spent most of the last year at home in Columbia with his family, and his parents worried that his career might be negatively impacted because he can't go on tour just yet.

"My job is being on tour, but for me, this has been very positive, being here in Columbia," Maluma explained. "I feel very connected again with myself." Things are looking up for him in 2021, as he'll be taking to the big screen in the film Marry Me, alongside Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson. Maluma and J.Lo performed some of their music for the film at the 2020 American Music Awards, and fans were already loving it.

Maluma was cast as the character Bastian after director Kat Coiro saw a noteworthy clip of the artist on The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. "I said, 'Oh my God, this is definitely Bastian,' because it was really important to us that (a) he could go toe to toe with Jennifer as a pop star, which very few people in the world can, but also that (b) he was likable," Coiro revealed.
