Headlines began to pop up about Miley Cyrus' flight while the singer was on her way to Paraguay to headline the 2022 Asuncionico music festival. After several reports began to surface about an emergency landing, thousands of the singer's fans began to worry about the safety of their favorite artist. Here's what we know.
Cyrus' plane ran into a "major unexpected storm" with the singer on board, along with her band, crew, and some friends and family members. The terrifying incident resulted in the plane being struck by lightning, after which it was then forced to make an emergency landing before it reached its intended destination. After several headlines began to report the event, and the comments sections on her social media posts became filled with questions about her safety, the Midnight Sky singer reassured everyone she was okay.
Miley shared a video of the storm, recorded from the plane, to her Instagram account, followed by a photo of the damage caused by the strike of lightning. In the caption of the post, the 29-year-old singer wrote, "To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción. Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lighting. My crew, band, friends, and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing. We were, unfortunately, unable to fly into Paraguay." The singer included a broken-heart emoji in the caption before adding, "I LOVE YOU." Although the incident changed the plans of thousands of fans in Paraguay coming out to see the singer, they were probably glad to know she was safe.

Cyrus' post was overwhelmed with prayers and well wishes from her fans and those close to her. One fan commented, "I'm so sorry about it… I'm in Paraguay rn, but I truly understand." Designer Jeremy Scott commented, "THANK GOD YOU ALL ARE SAFE," in addition to singer-songwriter Ilsey Juber, who wrote, "Omg so glad you guys are ok!" Due to the extreme weather conditions and a massive flood that hit Asunción, the first day of the music festival was canceled. However, multiple reports claim that the former Disney star "will perform [at Asuncionico], pending that the festival doesn't get canceled/postponed due to the flooding and inclement weather." Meanwhile, Cyrus' upcoming shows are set to continue as planned, with fans eagerly waiting for her to take the stage in Brazil on March 26. Stay tuned.
