3 years ago, Wells Adams finally got down on one knee and popped the question to Sarah Hyland. Today, after years of lockdowns and wedding cancellations, the couple finally sealed the deal. Although the two initially started their fling on Twitter, we aren't complaining! Love is in the air - and we couldn't be happier! Here's what we know.
Let's throw it back to 2016, when the pair first started flirting over Twitter, and the world was here to see it. It wasn't until a year later, in 2017, that they finally decided to get together. Just two years later, Wells had put a ring on it in July 2019. But due to the Covid-19 pandemic, celebrations were forced to be put on hold. The former Bachelorette heartthrob explained, "we have to be super careful about the pandemic." The Modern Family star elaborated by stating they had to "push it the first time round, that was tough. The thought was to push it to this year... If this thing continues and we can not do it, we'll do a courthouse." Now in the summer of 2021 and the date was pushed back again, "putting the breaks on the ceremony for the second time." We guess waiting it out is kind of their thing!
It all seemed worth it as they are completely head over heels in love and finally got to say 'I Do!' The pair were extraordinarily patient and received the 3-year planned wedding they deserved. Special guests, like the second family to Hyland and Modern Family cast members, made an appearance - such as Sofia Vergara, Julie Bowen, Nolan Gould, Jessie Tyler Ferguson, and more! Even "bachelor buddies," like Kaitlyn Bristowe and fiancé Jason Tartick attended the Saturday celebration. Guests were gushing over the couple all weekend, knowing how long they had waited for the fairy-tale moment. They even designed a trending hashtag, #sarahandwells, as seen on Sofia Vergara's Instagram posts. It seemed that Sarah wanted to follow in the footsteps of her on-screen alter-ego Hayley Dunphy as she talked about babies and families. Hyland said they are taking it "one step at a time," but she is very excited "to be able to - on paper, officially - start our family." We just hope Julie and Ty approve of this. After all, Wells did go to the TV parents for permission in the first place. How adorable.
