On Monday, June 13th, Selena Gomez sat down with The Hollywood Reporter for an interview. The actress spilled the tea about her life in the public eye and how she is only now understanding her strength and resilience. Here's what she admitted...

The 29-year-old has been in the spotlight since she was just a young girl on Barney & Friends. Her fame has meant that nearly every aspect of her life has been shared with the world, whether it be her relationships or her lupus diagnosis, not much of Gomez's life stays behind closed doors. "I was, you know, obviously going through a really tough breakup, and then I was left with the question of my career and where am I gonna go and what's gonna happen?" she told the magazine. "And then my medical stuff kind of kicked in, but being on the other side of it, I have to be honest, it's actually been really good for me."

Back in 2018, the Wizards of Waverly Place star officially ended things with her long-time boyfriend, Justin Bieber. Their time together was anything but private. For nearly 10 years, their on and off relationship was all anyone (including us) could talk about. So the breakup caused chaos amongst fans. "It allowed me to develop a character where I don't tolerate any sort of nonsense or disrespect," Gomez confessed, adding that she's "really proud" of how she handled the situation. "It was necessary for me to walk through those things, I had a lot of soul searching to do," she went on. "By all means, I don't have life figured out, but I do know that during that time, I was learning so much about myself."

These days, Gomez is careful with who she allows to be in her life. After undergoing a kidney transplant in 2017 and dealing with many heartbreaks, we can totally see why. “I find my toleration of any sort of discomfort, usually disrespect, or whatever, even just unnecessary stuff, it’s not taking over me anymore,” she explained to THR. Gomez added that her closest pals are mature adults who she feels like she can completely trust. Check out the rest of her juicy interview with the outlet here.
