Who says you're not perfect? Selena Gomez might be as close to it as it gets, but the Who Says singer is still only human at the end of the day. Look no further than her 2018 Met Gala look, which the artist deeply regrets. Here's what the star had to say about the viral tanning fail it called for, something we perhaps could all learn a thing or two from.
The Rare beauty founder recently sat down with Vogue to rehash a "funny story" about her love for bronzer. Of course, she was referring to her infamous walk on the 2018 Met Gala red carpet, which saw her looking, well, orange. "For the Met Gala, I was getting ready and we wanted to add some color, so I put on some of this tanning lotion, and it looked really beautiful and very even," Selena recalled. What went wrong?
"As the evening kept going on, it was getting a little darker and darker, and I didn't notice it," Gomez continued. Unfortunately, by the time she did notice it? It was too late. "I look at a photo of myself when I sit down, and I'm completely orange... I was like, this is gonna be terrible 'cause I'm gonna get eaten alive about this."
But instead of letting the innocent beauty blunder ruin the special night for her, Sel decided to kill 'em with kindness - and a little bit of humor. "So, I had my security take a video of me 'cause my first reaction was just to get the h*** out of there," she explained, before uploading a video of her leaving the event, captioned, "Me when I saw my pictures from MET."
While her bronzer routine probably won't be repeated anytime soon, we can't help but applaud Sel's lighthearted take on the entire situation. And having found her very own makeup line, Rare beauty, since then? We'd say she's doing just fine.
Be sure to check out her must-have makeup (which, by the way, gives back to the community), and don't forget to stay tuned.
