On Monday, Tristan Thompson issued a public apology to Khloé Kardashian after a paternity test confirmed that he's the father of fitness model Maralee Nichols' child. The news is the latest in a series of ups and downs in the couples' nearly 5-year-long relationship.
Nichols broke her silence and filed a paternity lawsuit against Thompson in December, alleging that he is her baby's father- claims he had repeatedly denied. After finally receiving DNA test results from Nichols, Thompson admitted to a sexual relationship with her that resulted in conception. He posted to his Instagram stories, writing, "I take full responsibility for my actions...I sincerely apologize to everyone I've hurt or disappointed throughout this ordeal both publicly and privately."
He went on to address Khloé directly with a more personal message, saying, "You don't deserve the heartache and humiliation I have caused you...I have the utmost respect and love for you. Regardless of what you may think." In the statement, he also apologized for "the way [he has] treated [Khloé] over the years," referring to multiple times he was caught cheating on her. His affairs include one with Kylie Jenner's former best friend, Jordyn Woods, and another time while Kardashian was pregnant.

Khloé's ex-husband Lamar Odom, whom she was married to from 2009 to 2016, expressed his opinion on the scandal. According to the Daily Mail, Odom commented on a Facebook post in support of his ex-wife, writing, "I truly wish nothing but the best for her and I'm hoping we can reconnect and talk one day as friends. She is a good person and deserves the world." And Khloé isn't the only person who has earned lots of sympathy in the wake of the news. Shortly before posting the apology, Thompson was apparently thinking of his 3-year-old daughter True, whom he shares with Kardashian. According to TMZ, the NBA star was seen outside True's gymnastics class holding dozens of roses on Monday.
Although it looks like Khloé has had a rather unfortunate start to the new year, we're all hoping she will find a way to pull through these difficult times.
