We don't know about you guys, but we've been searching for our next true-crime binge since finishing Inventing Anna and The Tinder Swindler. And lucky for us, we've got another gripping drama to demolish in one night thanks to Hulu's latest mini-series, The Dropout, where we get to see Amanda Seyfried transform herself to play the notorious con artist, Elizabeth Holmes.

In IMDb's words, the eight-episode series "chronicles Theranos founder Elizabeth Holmes' attempt to revolutionize the healthcare industry after dropping out of college and starting a technology company." Sounds harmless, right? Well, as we come to learn throughout the plot, the Theranos devices never once worked - but that didn't stop Holmes from conning investors - and even the President of the United States - from believing that she was a tech genius. Of course, this all came crashing down when the con artist was charged with four counts of fraud back in 2018. Sounds like the making of a juicy drama, right? Well, that's what the folks at Hulu thought - and they got to work on their own adaptation of the crazy events that unfolded at Theranos.

The series hit the streaming platform on March 3rd and has already raked in hundreds of positive reviews. And the majority of the props go to Seyfried, who left audiences speechless with her portrayal of Holmes. While we may have associated her with lighter projects like Mamma Mia!, Amanda threw her rom-com energy out the window in taking on this role. From two years of research into Elizabeth's identity to adopting her (rumored to be fake) low register when speaking, Amanda left no stone unturned in this project: "I went full force into finding out everything I could. There was this huge [encyclopedia]... of all the information that had been collected over the two years of research during the development phase of The Dropout," she shared. Wow - talk about dedication to the craft!
