Ever since Bridgerton hit Netflix back in December of 2020, viewers have become obsessed with the series. After just one season, it became Netflix's most-watched show ever, and we can see why. Fans were thrilled to find out that season two of Bridgerton is already in the works, but that's not all. To refresh your memory, the first season follows the life of Daphne Bridgerton, played by Phoebe Dynevor, during the regency era in England. She devises a plan with Simon Basset, also known as the Duke of Hastings, played by Regé-Jean Page, to fake a relationship that benefits them both. It's hard not to fall in love with these characters, and we can't wait to see what comes next in their story. Upon the announcement of the upcoming seasons, executive producer Shonda Rhimes shared, "From the first time I read Julia Quinn's delicious Bridgerton series, I knew these were stories that would captivate a viewing audience."
"But the evolution of this adaptation would not be a success without the many significant contributions of the entire Shondaland team," Rhimes continued. "This season-two pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work and I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix. Betsy [Beers] and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue bringing the world of Bridgerton to a worldwide audience." With all of the buzz around season two at the moment, it's important to note one significant change to the cast.
Earlier this month, Bridgerton fanatics were disappointed to learn that Regé-Jean Page will no longer be a part of the show. While the loveable British actor won't be returning for future seasons, he called his experience on the series "the ride of a lifetime" in a recent Instagram post. "It's been an absolute pleasure and a privilege to be your Duke. Joining this family - not just on screen, but off screen too," he shared. "Our incredibly creative and generous cast, crew, outstanding fans - it's all been beyond anything I could have imagined."
"The love is real and will just keep growing." As for what's coming next on Bridgerton? Well, season two will focus more on Lord Anthony Bridgerton's journey to find love, and something tells us we have a lot to look forward to!
