How long has it been since the Bridgerton's season 2 finale aired? We're struggling to believe it's been just 4 months because there's a huge Lady Whistledown-shaped hole in our hearts - and we're already counting down the days till we are blessed with season 3. Well, the good news is that we have updates! While this may not be as good as actually getting new episodes, beggars can't be choosers! Here's all there is to know so far.

Just recently, on July 20th, Netflix made the official announcement that production had begun on Bridgerton season 3! This update was provided in the form of a video, with the title 'Season 3 now in production.' The forty-five-second clip featured each cast member putting up 2 fingers and then 3, motioning the progression towards season three. Right, so what can we expect from this new chapter?

As previously updated, this third season will focus on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and the eye of her affection, Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). Netflix's official synopsis revealed that "Penelope Featherington has finally given up on her long-held crush on Colin Bridgerton after hearing his disparaging words about her last season. She has, however, decided it's time to take a husband, preferably one who will provide her with enough independence to continue her double life as Lady Whistledown, far away from her mother and sisters. But lacking in confidence, Penelope's attempts on the marriage mart fail spectacularly." Matters get more complicated when Colin returns from his summer abroad, disappointed to see that Penelope is avoiding him entirely. In an attempt to win her back as a friend at least, he offers to help her improve her confidence in the hopes of finding a man. However, when his lessons start to pay off, Colin begins to see Penelope as more than just a friend...

If that somehow isn't enough to get you buzzing for its arrival, we can also confirm that there will be 3 new cast members on board! Daniel Francis (Stay Close), Sam Phillips (The Crown), and James Phoon (Wreck) are all set to appear in the latest season. A charismatic ladies man, a Lord with some unique interests, and a loveable dim-wit, respectively, these additions are sure to spice things up - and we cannot wait! Stay tuned for more.
