Our week just got a whole lot better with this piece of news! Dear reader, it's our pleasure to bring you the fantastic update that there's more from the wonderful world of Bridgerton coming our way. And we've got all the details on this upcoming spin-off series.
A new show is in the works that will focus on our royal excellence Queen Charlotte. Now, for OG Bridgerton fans, this announcement didn't come as much of a shock, because Netflix made a statement about a spin-off series back in May of 2021. But more details have been shared that have got fans around the world excited. "Many viewers had never known the story of Queen Charlotte before Bridgerton brought her to the world, and I'm thrilled this new series will further expand her story and the world of Bridgerton," gushed Bela Bajaria, Netflix's head of Global TV. "Shonda [Rhimes] and her team are thoughtfully building out the Bridgerton universe so they can keep delivering for the fans with the same quality and style they love. And by planning and prepping all the upcoming seasons now, we also hope to keep up a pace that will keep even the most insatiable viewers totally fulfilled." We are the insatiable viewers, TBH - and we can't wait to see what's next!
But Queen Charlotte won't be the only one to get a little extra attention in the new show - reports claim that also Violet Bridgerton and Lady Danbury will have large plot lines, as the creators reveal more of the backstory that led us to the first viral season. As Netflix put it, the new show will "[center] on Queen Charlotte's rise to prominence and power, this Bridgerton-verse prequel tells the story of how the young Queen's marriage to King George spared both a great love story and a societal shift, creating the world of Ton inherited by the characters in Bridgerton."
