If you're a fan of music, then you won't want to miss Prime Video's latest series, Daisy Jones and the Six. Based on the best-selling novel by Taylor Jenkins Reid, this show promises all the rock and roll you could ever want in a story about a fictional 1970s rock band on their way to stardom. Here's a look.
The series chronicles the rise and fall of The Six as they go from playing small gigs in Pittsburgh to becoming one of the biggest bands in Los Angeles. It all starts with their collaboration with Daisy Jones (played by Riley Keough), which catapults them into the limelight. But as they get closer to their dreams, things start to unravel. Lead singer Billy Dunne (Sam Claflin) clashes terribly with Daisy, where relationship trouble, substance abuse, and egos all threaten to bring them down. What makes this show particularly unique is that it's told through interviews 20 years later. This evokes infamous bands of music history past like Fleetwood Mac or Led Zeppelin, who had tumultuous relationships within the group but still managed to create some of the most iconic music of all time.
Daisy Jones was originally published in 2019 as part of a loose series centered around California over the years. Reid's other novels in this collection include The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Malibu Rising, and Carrie Soto is Back - all ripe for screen adaptations. In fact, both Evelyn Hugo and Malibu Rising have already been optioned for TV adaptations. The cast includes Suki Waterhouse, Will Harrison, Sebastian Chacon, Josh Whitehouse as members of The Six alongside Tom Wright, Timothy Olyphant, Nabiyah Be, and Camila Morrone in supporting roles. Reese Witherspoon produces the series alongside Lauren Neustadter under their Hello Sunshine empire.
If you're looking for a gripping story filled with drama and intrigue set against a backdrop of iconic rock 'n' roll music from the 70s era, then Daisy Jones and The Six is definitely worth checking out! So mark your calendars for March 3rd, when it premieres on Prime Video with 3 episodes! It's time to grab your guitar and join this iconic band on their journey to becoming rock 'n' roll legends...
