Love, community, and joy are a powerful trio of emotions that can make any Christmas film memorable. From the pen of Love Actually, writer-director Richard Curtis comes a new holiday comedy with a magical twist: Genie. Premiering on streaming services on November 22, the film stars Melissa McCarthy as Flora, a genie accidentally released from a jewelry box by a despondent man named Bernard (Paapa Essiedu).
Bernard is in dire need of some help. He's missed his daughter's birthday, his wife has left him, and he's just been fired from his job. But when he releases Flora, he discovers she can grant unlimited wishes. Trapped in a box for over 2,000 years, Flora hasn't seen much of the world as we knows it. Jumping at an exciting opportunity, Bernard shows her the world she's been missing. In the process, they develop an unlikely friendship and embark on a journey to help Bernard win back his family's love in time for Christmas. Genie is a heartwarming and hilarious holiday comedy that celebrates the power of Love and friendship. It's sure to put you in the holiday spirit! After all, Christmas is the most magical time of year, and what could be more magical than having a genie to grant your wishes?
The film also stars Alan Cumming, Denée Benton, Luis Guzmán, Marc Maron, Jordyn McIntosh, Tate Ellington, and LaChanze.
