Remember last summer when our childhood selves were freaking out over the news of an upcoming Lizzie McGuire reboot? ...And then when it got shut down faster than we could say, "Why not?" Well, it looks like that long-awaited revival might just be on its way, after all.

Just this week, our favorite blonde-haired beauty sat down to answer the question on every '00s kid's mind: what ever happened to that Disney+ reboot?
"We started shooting, and then obviously that got on hold for a couple of different reasons not involving the pandemic," Hilary Duff explained to E! News. In case you forgot, back in February, production for the series came to a brutal halt due to creative differences - after just two episodes.
What happened?
While the show was set to feature a now 30-year-old Lizzie living in the Big Apple, Duff and Disney+ couldn't seem to agree on well, how exactly they would do that: "Disney has certain things that have to be met for their brand," Duff explained, eager for them to release the series to a more adult-friendly network like Hulu, so that they "wouldn't live under the ceiling of a PG rating."

Since then? "We're in a really good place of being like, 'Hey, we pressed pause, and we're regrouping.' There's been a lot of like creative meetings, obviously virtually," the actress further revealed to PopSugar. "I think we're on the right path, and I want it to happen more than anyone and [Disney] obviously feel the same way."

Well, guys, there you have it. It looks like the much-needed reboot is literally what all of our dreams are made of - Lizzie's included. So, until that day comes, (and something tells us it will), be sure to stay tuned for all of the latest updates.
