As crazy as it may seem, even when you reach Kaley Cuoco-levels of fame, life can still throw you some curveballs. And for the former The Big Bang Theory star, life knocked her off her feet when she lost out on her dream role to Kate Hudson. Here's what she had to say about it.
The 36-year-old Hollywood actress came ready to share her feelings during her recent interview with Glamour, for which she did a cover shoot and story. During the chat, Kaley got real and honest in describing the mega disappointment she felt having lost her chance to star in the Knives Out sequel. For those who need a little backstory, Knives Out took Hollywood by storm back in 2019, and when the cast for the anticipated follow-up dropped this past summer, it felt like nearly every actor in the industry was set to star. Well, except for Kaley... She was ultimately rejected, and Kate Hudson got the part. "I was so convinced that my backs were packed for Greece," Cuoco recalled from the audition period. "And then I didn't get it. I was so devastated. And I'm not [normally] devastated over roles."
For an established Hollywood actress like Kaley, she thought she'd read all the signs, and they were pointing to starring in the film. "I had done chemistry reads, I had done Zooms," the Flight Attendant star confessed. "I was gutted over that," she continued. "And that's when I thought I was on fire, like, I'm for sure getting that. And they were like, 'No, we're going to go with Kate.'" But, as they say, when one door closes, another opens - and that door was Meet Cute, Cuoco's latest project with Pete Davidson. Having been turned away from Knives Out, her schedule was wide open. "When I [read the script], I said, 'This is the most magical little script.' And I would've never gotten it if I [got] Knives."
