Who would be worthy of playing the Madonna in her upcoming biopic? Apparently, almost every actress in Hollywood is auditioning for the iconic role to play the Material Girl - and we can totally understand why. The project has been rumored since 2017, confirmed in 2020 by Madonna herself. And now in 2022, Madonna Boot Camp is in full force. So, let's take a look at what we know so far about this upcoming release, bound to be hit.
Alongside Madonna as director and co-writer is Oscar-winner Diablo Cody, who co-wrote the final script with Madonna herself. Madonna says the movie is "about my struggle as an artist trying to survive in a man's world as a woman, and really just the journey, which has been happy, sad, mad, crazy, good, bad, and ugly." The movie will document the Queen of Pop in her early days in New York in the '80s alongside Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, and many more iconic figures. With such success of other biopic based on iconic musicians such as Bohemian Rhapsody or Rocketman, this could be absolutely huge.
So, who has enrolled in Madonna Boot Camp thus far? It looks like everyone from Oscar nominees to Emmy winners, singers, and actresses have their eyes set on this prestigious role-especially since the singer herself is the co-writer and director. Of course, she is. "The reason I'm doing it is because a bunch of people have tried to write movies about me, but they're always men," she explained. And now that she is in charge, let's see who she chooses. Actresses Julia Garner (Inventing Anna), Florence Pugh (Little Women), and Alexa Demie (Euphoria) are just three of the names that have been apparently vying for the coveted role. One can only imagine the intense auditioning process to play the Queen of Pop herself! But according to sources, "You have to be able to do everything." That sounds right. The audition process includes choreography sessions with Madonna's choreographer, and the qween herself, in addition to singing auditions.
