Samantha's Skin Peel
In one of the most iconic scenes of Sex and the City, Samantha visits her doctor for her regular botox appointment and comes out looking "like beef carpaccio," according to Carrie. What went wrong?
Sam's doctor asked her if she was interested in a "freshening peel" that she was told could make her 10 to 20 years younger, so she quickly jumped at the chance. However, she came out with one less layer of skin and just on time for Carrie's book party, where she arrived with a black veil on to cover up her latest "impulse purchase."
The Baby Shower
Early in the series, we understand the connection Samantha, Carrie, Charlotte, and Miranda have with each other-they go way back! But when an old friend of theirs, Laney, invites them to her baby shower in the suburbs, the girls start reminiscing about their party days together.
And although all the baby talk has Carrie briefly thinking about her own future as a mother, things quickly take a turn. Charlotte finds out that Laney is taking her dream name for her baby girl, and the girls abruptly leave together out of anger.
A Weekend in the Hamptons
It's only natural the ladies of Manhattan want to leave the city every so often for a beach weekend in the Hamptons! However, things don't go according to plan when each of the girls finds herself dealing with a personal crisis! So what exactly happened?
Samantha finds out that her previous assistant decided to throw a massive Hamptons party using her Rolodex as the guest list - which obviously irritates her! Carrie runs into Mr. Big and his new girlfriend, Natasha, Miranda isn't interested in the Hamptons scene, and Charlotte lies about her age to date a 26-year-old.
Charlotte Wants Harry Back
There are few love stories like Charlotte York's and Harry Goldenblatt's. Despite not seeing it at first, Charlotte and Harry were meant to be together from the moment they met. But things took a turn after months of dating when Harry revealed to Charlotte that he couldn't marry her if she wasn't Jewish.
So, York took things into her own hands and converted to Judaism in order to be with Harry, but they couldn't manage to stay together. After weeks apart, they saw each other at a singles night in a synagogue; when Charlotte pleaded for Harry to take her back-and, it worked! He got down on one knee right there and then.
Charlotte Marries Trey
Before Charlotte York became Charlotte Goldenblatt, she was briefly Charlotte MacDougal. Of all the ladies, Charlotte is notoriously known for wanting to get married, have a family, and live happily ever after, so when she met the cardiologist, Trey MacDougal, she thought she had it all figured out.
The couple had a beautiful wedding and looked absolutely perfect from the outside. But after a short amount of time together, they had some marital issues, and Charlotte knew deep down Trey wasn't the one for her. Eventually, they got divorced, and we never heard of Trey MacDougal again.
Carrie Meets Aidan
There's so much to say about Carrie Bradshaw and Aidan Shaw, so let's start at the beginning. We were first introduced to Aidan in Season 3 when Standford and Carrie saw the cute furniture designer's photo in the paper and decided to pay him a visit at his studio.
After their adorable meet-cute moment, their relationship begins to flourish, and we finally see Carrie happy with someone who wasn't Mr. Big. Although they didn't have much in common, audiences could see how much they loved each other. Carrie even stopped smoking cigarettes for him! IYKYK.
Carrie and Aidan Break Up
After years of confusion with Big, everything felt simple with Aidan. However, we know simple only lasts for a short time when it comes down to Carrie Bradshaw's relationships. After months of dating Aidan, Carrie sees Big and Natasha at a furniture show, where he confesses to Carrie his relationship with his wife is falling apart.
Despite turning him away at first, telling Big she was happily in love with Aidan, the two began an affair. Carrie harbored the secret for quite some time before confessing to Aidan and even asked him if they could stay together despite the affair. But he couldn't look past it, and they split, and all of our hearts were shattered.
Carrie Asks Mr. Big Why He Didn't Pick Her
But before there was Aidan, there was Big. The couple met in the series' first episode and automatically fell head over heels for each other. Despite being intensely in love, they just couldn't figure it out long enough to stay together. Big eventually married Natasha, "the idiot stick figure with no soul," as Carrie described her.
Once the news broke of Carrie and Big's engagement, Carrie couldn't help being heartbroken. However, by the end of Season 2, she is able to confront her ex just after his engagement party, asking him, "Why wasn't it me," To which he responds, "I don't know. It just got so hard. And she's…" Got it, Big.
The Country
In this episode, Aidan quite literally drags Carrie out to his country home in Suffern, New York, after the two get back together following her affair with Big. After the affair ended, Carrie and her ex decided to try out the whole "being friends thing," which clearly ended with a messy outcome.
Big calls Carrie for relationship advice, which ends up in Carrie inviting him to the cabin - not a good idea. Although he says he will meet her outside for a quick chat, it starts pouring rain, and Aidan being Aidan invites him in. However, things get heavy pretty quickly, and they start fighting with each other (over Carrie).
The Infamous Post-It
The Post-It Always Sticks Twice episode will go down in history as one of the best and most relatable from the franchise. After Carrie's back and forward relationships with her two great loves, Aidan and Big, she meets fellow writer Jack Berger, and according to Carrie herself, she "sparked with this person."
However, things took a sharp turn when Carrie revealed to the girls at lunch that Berger dumped her with a post-it note that read, "I'm sorry, I can't. Don't hate me." Speechless. Sure, they hadn't been a couple for so long, but that's just a brutal way to break up with someone. Goodbye, Berger.
Samantha Breaks Up With Richard
One of Samantha's longest relationships comes to an end in Season 5 when she breaks up with millionaire hotel magnate Richard Wright. After seeing Jones live the ultimate single gal life for so long, fans loved seeing her find love with someone who at first seemed like the right guy for her until he cheated on her and broke her heart.
Sam wanted to give him another chance, but ultimately couldn't trust him and ended her relationship with Richard in his hotel room where she expected to catch him cheating. In a heated moment, Sam realizes something important and tells him, "I love you, too, Richard - but I love me more," and leaves.
Miranda Meets Robert Leeds
Although we were always rooting for Steve and Miranda's relationship, when the dedicated lawyer met Dr. Robert Leeds in Season 6, we definitely weren't upset about it. Miranda met the sports doctor when he was applying to live in her building, and needless to say, he was accepted.
However, the breakup was inevitable. Robert gifts Miranda a giant cookie with the words "I love you" written on it, and she immediately freaks out and realizes that she couldn't say it back. "How can I love him if I can't even say the words?" she asks Carrie. She then realizes it's because she is still very much in love with Steve.
The Yankee Game
What an iconic episode. Carrie and Big have just broken up, and somehow the girls end up at a Yankees game. Despite Charlotte's rule that it takes half the time of a relationship to get over it, Miranda convinces the girls that attending a baseball game would be fun, and it was, in fact, a home run!
While sitting high up in the stands, Carrie catches a fly ball and, after the game is over, heads to the locker room to have it signed by the cute Yankee, Joe Starr. The newly single gal impulsively asks out Starr, leaving the rest of the girls in awe over her straightforward dating approach.
Samantha's Identity Fraud
Samantha was on a mission to join Soho House, an exclusive, members-only club, and she was going to do anything she could to get herself there. It was a scorching hot NYC summer, and the members-only club had a swimming pool-and Samantha wanted in.
But after being denied entry, she luckily found a lost ID card that she ended up using the gain access to the club. Assuming the new identity of Annabelle Bronstein, Sam invites the girls to the pool but gets caught once an employee catches her and her fake British accent.
Celebrating Fleet Week
There's something about the Season 5 premiere episode that makes us love New York City and its favorite foursome even more. Miranda grapples with the reality of becoming a full-time mother, Samantha struts the streets ready to revenge Richard's infidelity, Charlotte believes you can only have two loves, and Carrie is single.
Carrie declares her love for Manhattan, ready to celebrate her life as a single gal and see what the magical city has to offer her when she and the gang get invited to the city's hottest party. It's fleet week, and the US Navy boys were out and ready to play, and the girls decided to go out and treat themselves.
Samantha Jones Twins With Miley Cyrus on the Red Carpet
Samantha Jones can pull anything off! During Sex and the City 2, the publicist is invited to her boyfriend, Smith Jerrod's movie premiere, so obviously, she needs a new dress! Jones and Bradshaw go shopping in search of something "hot and young" for the red carpet, only to find out Miley Cyrus had the same thought.
Jones landed on a strapless silver mini dress, and when she arrived on the red carpet, Cyrus was wearing the exact same dress! Anthony Marentino immediately yells, "Mother of God. She's wearing the same dress as Hannah Montana!" But instead of running away from the paparazzi, the two smiled together for some close-ups!
Visiting the Playboy Mansion
Carrie was initially invited to La La Land to speak with a movie production company about optioning her column, so naturally, the rest of the girls joined. During their stay, Carrie and Samantha attended a movie premiere after-party where they spotted the one and only Hugh Hefner, and immediately Sam ran over to introduce herself.
After spotting the ultimate Hollywood celeb, Sam told the girls that Hef invited them to the Playboy Mansion for a pool party. But things quickly go awry at the party when Charlotte has an awkward encounter with another partygoer, and Samantha complains someone stole her fake Fendi bag. And, well, they were all kicked out.
Smith Jerrod Shaves Samantha's Hair
One of the more serious storylines of Sex and the City was when Samantha Jones found out she had breast cancer. The publicist found it difficult to share the news at first with her movie star boyfriend, Smith Jerrod, but after letting herself be vulnerable with him, he was completely supportive during the whole process.
After starting to lose her hair, Samantha decided to shave her hair off instead, but as she got started, Smith walked in, confused. After explaining to her boyfriend that he can't possibly understand what she's going through, he decides to take the razor and shave his hair off in solidarity before finishing up Samantha's hair.
The Pink Wig
Samantha and Smith are one of those couples that we always wanted to see work out, especially after seeing the way he stood with Samantha during her cancer diagnosis. Before Sam decided to shave her head, she opted to go wig shopping with Carrie in order to find the perfect wig for Smith's premiere that still looks like her.
But after finding no wig and a heartfelt conversation with Carrie discussing her diagnosis, Samantha decides to take control of her own situation and shave her head. After Smith steps in, the two show up to his premiere hand in hand, with Samantha rocking an iconic pink wig, looking as fabulous as ever.
Miranda Has a Baby
During Season 4 of SATC, the girls are having brunch, as per usual, when Miranda reveals to the girls she's pregnant. At first, Miranda grapples back and forth with the idea of wanting to keep the baby and telling Steve, the father. But after visiting the clinic, she has a change of heart and tells him.
The newly pregnant Miranda immediately told him she would take on all the responsibilities of raising the child, but he could visit. However, that wasn't going to fly with Steve! Together they welcomed baby Brady and began co-parenting together.
Miranda and Steve Get Married
After years of denying her love for Steve, Miranda finally confesses how she feels in Season 6. After Brady is born, we see the new parents adjust to parenthood and co-parenting together without being romantically involved. But they finally admit their feelings for one another at Brady's first birthday party.
At the end of season 6, the Queens-born bartender and dedicated attorney tie the knot and decide to make a move from the city to Brooklyn. Despite their ups and downs throughout the entire series, audiences were thrilled to see them end up together as one happy family!
Carrie and Miranda Bump Into Their Exes Together
Miranda and Carrie are already feeling some type of way over their breakups with Steve and Aidan and their single lives when they bump into their exes sitting together on the street. New York City is a lot smaller than you think! The girls first spotted them and quickly ran into a lobby building to decide what to do.
Carrie and Miranda have two options: to stay in the building forever or say hi to their exes, who are also friends. They decide to go with option B and confront Steve and Aidan when the girls spot four glasses of beer on the table, only to find out they are actually on a double date. Needless to say, they then awkwardly run in the opposite direction.
Carrie and Stanford Decide To Get Married
We can't write a whole article dedicated to the best moments of Sex and the City without mentioning one of our favorite characters of all time, Stanford! Stanford is Carries' gay BFF and was the source of many integral and hilarious moments on the show.
In season 1, Stanny tells Carrie he needs to get married to get an inheritance, but his grandmother, whose in control of the money, doesn't know he's gay. Carrie jokingly tells her BFF that they should get married, and he doesn't hate the idea. They pretend to be a couple for Stanny's grandmother, but she knew he was gay all along.
Carrie's First Date With Alexander Petrovsky
Say what you will, but Alexander Petrovsky was certainly one of the most influential men in Carry's dating pool. After attending an art gallery exhibition with Charlotte, Bradshaw meets "the Russian," aka Alexander Petrovsky, and immediately finds him intriguing, and the artist himself feels the same.
The two go out on what would be one of Carrie's most bizarre but fun dates in the series. Bradshaw meets the mysterious artist for a 1 a.m. dinner, followed by a 3 a.m. visit to the art gallery where they first met. The date ends in a passionate kiss, and their relationship quickly flourishes.
Carrie and Big Reunite in Paris
At the height of her relationship with Petrovsky, she ends up moving around the world to Paris with him as he gets ready for a new art exhibition. However, her fairy tale ending was waiting for her around the corner, and his name was not Alexander Petrovsky; it was Mr. Big.
Big flies to Paris to find Carrie finally admitting to Bradshaw that although it took him a really long time to get there, she was "the one." The couple exchanged a passionate kiss, ending with Carrie telling Big, "I miss New York; take me home," and just like that, it was over.
The Girls Get Back Together
After six seasons of love and heartbreak, marriages and divorces, friendship and lovers, Sex and the City came to an end. We learned so much from these four ladies of Manhattan, lessons we'll always remember and never take for granted. But we can't lie; we were devastated when the series ended!
But four years after the HBO show came to an end, the Sex and the City movie was announced, and we couldn't help but jump with joy! The ladies were back together again, this time dealing with a whole new array of triumphs and tragedies, but as always, they did it together.
Big Leaves Carrie on Their Wedding Day
Following their happy ending at the end of the series, Big and Carrie decide it's time to finally tie the knot. But, knowing Big and his fear of commitment and communication, things go horribly awry when it's time to walk down the aisle. Big starts to have second thoughts after a short conversation with Miranda the night before their wedding.
The day had come, and Big was nowhere to be found. After trying to call Carrie to talk, the groom arrives at the ceremony but doesn't go inside, leaving Carrie at the alter. And by the time he realizes he has made a massive mistake, Carrie is already running to the car to take her home. But not before hitting big with her bouquet.
Charlotte's Water Breaks
Obviously, the girls were furious at Big and devastated for Carrie after the big day didn't go as planned. They did everything they could to support their best friend, including never seeing Big. However, plans changed when a very pregnant Charlotte spotted him sometime later at a cafe, where she quickly got up and ran outside.
Big follows her out onto the street, asking to talk, when Charlotte yells at him, "I don't want to see you. I'm so mad at you," followed by the famous line, "I curse the day you were born." However, her water immediately breaks, and Big pleads with her to escort her to the hospital.
Aidan and Carrie See Each Other in Abu Dhabi
Two years after the first movie came to a close, where we saw Charlotte give birth to a beautiful baby girl and Big and Carrie finally tie the knot, we see the ladies get back together for yet another eventful movie. This time, Charlotte, Samantha, Carrie, and Miranda head to Abu Dabi on a glamorous Arabian desert trip.
While shopping in one of the souks, a happily married Carrie spots her second truest love, Aidan. Despite her friend's approval, Carrie decides to have a drink with her ex-fiance, which ends in a kiss. The very confused Mrs. Big calls her husband to confess, and after some silence, the two reconcile.
Carrie and Big’s Happily Ever After
After many, many years of back and forth between the couple, Mr. Big and Carrie do get to have their happily ever after. During Sex and the City 2, the couple is seen lovey-dovey together at Stanford and Anthony's epic wedding, which Liza Minnelli officiated.
Anyways, back to John and Carrie: Big left Carrie at the alter, and Carrie kissed Aidan while they were married. Although they broke up more times than we could count during the series, they proved time and time again that they were stronger together.
