When we think of September, we think of three things: New fall wardrobe, PSL, and MTV VMAs. And the award show is finally right around the corner. So let's see what's lined up for this year.
First up, the famous Moonman trophy is going under a secret makeover in the lead-up of the September 11th award show. Famous New York-based artist Kehinde Wiley took on the big project and will make a huge debut on the red carpet of the event. The VMAs will also go back to its usual format after adjusting last year's awards amid the pandemic and the regulations around meeting indoors.
And thank goodness, because with a performance lineup like this year's, thousands of music lovers will be fighting to get a close look at the musicians hitting the stage. Camila Cabello will be performing her viral single Don't Go Yet in addition to Justin Bieber, Kacey Musgraves, and Olivia Rodrigo. The 18-year-old singer from California is making quite the debut at this year's award show. Her performance is coupled with a handful of nominations including Artist of the Year, Best Pop, Song of the Year, and Song of the Summer.
From good 4 u to drivers license, the fresh industry face has broken Spotify world records since coming into the music scene, and many are expecting her to leave a mark at this year's show and walk away with some trophies in hand. Also set to hit the stage is Lil Nas X, who has been making serious waves in anticipation of his first studio album release, Industry Baby, which is set to come out on September 17th, just six days after the awards show.
And we don't know about you, but our fingers are crossed that the Montero singer will use his stage time to debut a new song from the album... Do we even need to say more? This show will definitely make history, you guys. So be sure to check back soon for more news surrounding MTV's 2021 VMAs and all things music industry.
