It's the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air like you've never seen him before! Thirty years after Will Smith's sitcom took America by storm, the legendary actor is back, but this time behind the scenes. The 53-year-old actor has joined the crew as executive producer on the 2022 reboot titled Bel-Air. And while the character list may have some familiar names, that's about where the similarities stop. This new NBC Peacock show has flipped Will's story upside down and ditched the laughs along the way. That's right, Bel-Air isn't a comedy by a long shot; it's a teen drama.

The creative team also opted for a longer timeslot to really build up each episode's story arch. Bel-Air's episodes will run for one whole hour rather than the 30-minute episodes of '90s humor from back in the day. As the trailer's synopsis reads, "As these two worlds collide, Will... reckons with the power of second chances while navigating the conflicts, emotions, and biases of a world far different from the only one he's ever known." And if the three-minute preview confirmed anything, it's that there will be plenty of conflicts and emotions along the way. But according to Will Smith, that's just the fresh take his old show needs.

"Three years ago, my guy Morgan Cooper uploaded his fan trailer to YouTube, showing how he envisioned the Fresh Prince as a drama," the Oscar-winning actor wrote. "Now, here is the first full look at his retelling of the story that's always been so close to my heart." So who can we look forward to catching on February 13th? Playing the part of the stern patriarch Phillip Banks is Adrian Holmes. His son and protégé Carlton is played by Olly Sholoton. And the one and only Will will be played by Jabari Banks. "The HIGHEST honor to be apart of this legacy," the young actor commented on the Bel-Air trailer.

Currently, the teaser is trending on YouTube and has raked in over 2 million views on Will's Instagram page. So, it's safe to say that we're not the only ones excited for the premiere. Stay tuned for more need-to-know entertainment updates!
