For those who forgot - Shawn Mendes set off to perform around the world on his 'Wonder' tour on June 27th, 2022, which was set to end August 1st, 2023. However, the Stitches artist recently took to social media to announce he is postponing his upcoming shows as a result of mental health. Here's what to know...

Mendes released his album Wonder in 2020, and fans couldn't get enough. So, the 23-year-old singer kicked off an accompanying tour in Portland, Oregon, on June 27th. After a few years off the road, spending time with family, friends, and ex-girlfriend Camilla Cabello, Mendes thought he was ready to take center stage once again. However, after special consideration, talking to health professionals and management, the musician decided to step out of the spotlight to focus on himself. It seems this was the best decision for him and his career, postponing his first show on July 6th, where he was meant to perform at the Enterprise Center in Philadelphia.

As for any teen rock star, performing night after night globally will never be a usual way of living. Mendes had planned to visit North America, the U.K, and Europe, but with 2 legs and 87 shows, this prudent decision turned out to be more impulsive than imagined. After debuting his career at just 15, it's no wonder the singer experiences breaking points from time to time - with outside factors contributing to his well-being, whether these are personal struggles or his career. In a previous statement, Mendes exposed his struggles with mental health, explaining "it's always been difficult to be on the road away from friends and family," and the toll of the road and the pressure" caught up to him. Though it will always be disappointing for performers to cancel on the rest of us, Mendes received nothing but love and support in response to his social media statement!

Don't worry guys - by no means does this indicate the end of Shawn Mendes! And we're happy to see Mendes taking care of himself for his career and happiness. At the end of the day, his lyrics are a formulation of authentic experiences, sharing his personal life with the world and his beloved fans. Mendes has promised himself and his fans "to tell the truth… and to be the truth." As of now, the Wonder Tour has been put on pause from July 9th until July 29th - and in the meantime, you can find us waiting (impatiently) here! Stay tuned.
