Is there any better reward for getting through the coldest months of the year than the month of March? From the first signs of spring to the Oscars, there's so much to look forward to - but today, we're focusing on the biggest night in Hollywood: the Oscars! And our first taste of the excitement has come in the form of the nomination list. So let's see which of our fave 2021 releases made the cut.
For starters, the highly anticipated event will be held on Sunday, March 27th, and will be packed with the most talented stars of our era. But who exactly is nominated? Well, we've got the deets for you here. Starting with actress in a leading role, OG Kristen Stewart fans were elated to see their former Bella Swan score a nom for her lead performance in Spencer. The film, which came out back in November, immediately sparked Oscar buzz, with people commending the 31-year-old actress for her performance. Her convincing British accent warrants the nomination alone, right, you guys? But Stewart wasn't the only one who got her role recognized in such a big way...
Other big blockbuster projects to get nominated included Steven Spielberg's re-imagination of the Broadway classic West Side Story. From a directing nomination to costume design, cinematography, and so much more, the Rachel Zegler-starred film was one of the most heavily featured titles on the list - including King Richard, the story of Venus and Serena's father, Richard Williams (played by Will Smith). And, of course, the Dune team got a shoutout as well, scoring a nom for costume design, cinematography, film editing, makeup, music, best picture, and tons more. With so many of our favorite 2021 releases battling head to head, the 94th Academy Awards will surely be a night that'll have us on the edge of our seats.
