If you're anything like us, you'll have binged season one of The Summer I Turned Pretty, only to sadly realize season 2 was nowhere to be seen. Since the show's release in June 2022, we've been waiting patiently for news of the next chapter, desperate to be reunited with Belly and the guys at Cousins Beach. Now, finally, we have updates, and boy, were they worth the wait! Here's everything we know so far...

The Amazon Prime Video series, which is based on the books by Jenny Han, has had a passionate cult following since the day it first aired. Unsurprisingly, a season 2 was quickly announced, and the cast began filming almost immediately. But since then, it's been virtually silent, and we've been left to wonder what became of it. With Amazon's release of a season 2 poster, we're getting hyped all over again.

The poster shows that almost all of the original cast are returning for the second installment. Although the season 1 finale had us worried that Susannah would not be returning, her appearance in numerous BTS TikTok videos heavily suggests it's not the end. One actress who won't be reprising their role is Minnie Mills, who played Shayla in season 1. "Playing Shayla was such a privilege; she taught me so much and helped me grow not only as an actor but as a person," she wrote on Instagram last month. Kyra Sedgwick and Elsie Fisher are joining the cast in her place, but there are currently no details about their characters.

As for the synopsis, it's been confirmed that season 2 will follow the plot of Han's second book in the series. Titled It's Not Summer Without You, it is set to pick up one year after the conclusion of season 1. Han warned fans of the book series to expect some changes, noting that there will be differences in the screen adaptation. "There's always gonna be changes here and there, so I guess you'll just have to wait and see," Han told E! News. "I'm the one doing the changes, so I guess get mad at me because I'm the one who's changing it!" Filming for season 2 concluded in November 2022 and is expected to be released sometime "this summer."
