Zendaya Coleman has proudly been announced the youngest producing nominee in Emmy history! At 25, Zendaya has already achieved lots, from acting to co-producing the second most watched show on HBO. While she has already won an Emmy for 'outstanding actress in a drama series' as Rue Bennett in the hit TV show Euphoria, her most recent achievement is now a mark made in history...
The Emmys are an annual award show which presents and acknowledge "outstanding achievements" from actors, writers, producers, and directors. Only members of the National Academy of Television can vote for the winners in each category, so to acknowledge Zendaya at such a young age says a lot about her unique and incredible television talent. For the Emmy Awards 2022, Zendaya received four nominations, making her a two-time lead acting nominee and the second black woman ever to win the award for lead actress in a TV drama.
With a few commercials here and there, Zendaya made her big acting debut on the Disney Channel show Shake it Up in 2010 when she was just 14. Following the show, Z continued her career with Disney Channel for a while before transitioning into more adult roles. As well as co-starring alongside Hugh Jackman and Zac Efron in The Greatest Showman (2017), Zendaya went on to trademark her role as struggling teen Rue Bennet in Euphoria. Euphoria, released in June 2019, is a TV drama that entails the intertwining tales of teens, social media, and establishing identities. Her character as Rue stunned audiences from the beginning, taking her role as an actress beyond extremes - from scenes where she had to physically and emotionally push herself to adding a comedic sense with a hint of the true Zendaya. Coleman explained the feeling behind Euphoria, "to hopefully help people feel a little bit less alone in their experience and their pain. And maybe feel like they're not the only one going through or dealing with what they're dealing with." Oh, and did we mention, Coleman sings on the show's album?
The show holds thrilling authenticity themes due to the starring actors' raw talent, including Z, Sydney Sweeney, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demi, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow, Barbie Ferriera, and Angus Cloud. Every character is unique and symbolizes a different inner and outer personality. Co-produced with producer, writer, and director Sam Levinson, there is no one better to appreciate than a prodigy like Zendaya. And we have never, ever been prouder!
