She may have made a name for herself in the sci-fi genre, but now it's time for Zoe Saldana to shake things up and move into a whole new galaxy. After starring in Guardians of the Galaxy and Avatar, the actress is now flexing her skills in the romantic genre, starring in a new Netflix series, From Scratch. The best part? You don't need to wait long to get into it! It's arriving on our screens in a matter of days! Here's what you can expect...

Based on the New York Times bestselling memoir, From Scratch: A Memoir of Love, Sicily, and Finding Home, this Netflix series will follow an American student looking for a life-changing experience in Italy. Of course, as expected, she experiences more than just art, falling in love with a handsome chef. But before you roll your eyes, hear us out! While the base plot may scream overdone cliche romance, it is set to simultaneously cover some real topics in a serious way.

Before you ask, yes, there is already a trailer (see below), and it's giving us everything we want and more! "In Italy, we have a saying. In dreams, as in love, all is possible," the trailer opens in a very sexy Italian voice. Within the first few seconds, it's clear that this series will heavily focus on the epic love story of Amy (Saldana) and the Italian chef, Lino (Eugenio Mastrandreia). However, things turn bittersweet when the couple decides to start a new life together in the US. With the complications and culture shocks that inevitably arise, the question is posed: can love really conquer all?

Talking recently with People magazine, Zoe discussed what it was about the series that motivated her to take this career redirection. "When I read it, obviously we all know how Tembi Locke and Saro's story ends, but their love, their friendship, their life, their journey, the story of their lives together, it's timeless. And that was deeply moving to me," she said. Executively produced by Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine and directed by Nzingha Stewart, this drop is already set up to be a winner. All 8 episodes of season 1 will be available to stream on Netflix from October 21. Buon appetito!
