From Set It Up to The Politician, you'd be hard-pressed to find a Zoey Deutch project that isn't up there on our list of faves. And for that reason, we couldn't be more excited that she's got a brand new film coming our way! So, here's everything you need to know about Deutch's upcoming dramedy, Not Okay.
At first glance, the promo pictures for this upcoming release gave us major Emily in Paris vibes - but the plot couldn't be more different. According to IMDb, Not Okay tells the story of "a misguided young woman (Zoey), desperate for friends and fame, [who] fakes a trip to Paris to update her social media presence." Sound harmless, right? Well, as we can expect for a dramedy, things certainly won't work out as planned for the protagonist. "A terrifying incident takes place in the real world which becomes a part of the imaginary and offers all she wanted." In the blink of an eye, we see Zoey's character get all she ever wanted, but having built an identity on a lie, how long will she be able to keep it up?
If we're being honest, this synopsis was more than enough to get us pumped for the July 29th release - but the cast list only went on to build the hype even more! Zoey's joined by big names like Dylan O'Brien, Karan Soni, Sarah Yarkin, and Mia Isaac in this cautionary tale, which is shedding light on the dark side of social media fame, all while still bringing laughs to the audience. Intrigued? We can't say we blame you. And while we have a bit over a month to wait to catch this whole film in its entirety, we at least have a trailer to tie us over in the meantime. Check it out below!
So, if you need us, we'll be watching the Not Okay trailer over and over again until July 29th rolls around. But, of course, you guys can still count on us to bring you all the need-to-know updates from the world of Hollywood and entertainment! Only on myjournal.com.
